Cotton Bowl 2014: TV schedule, streaming, preview for Oklahoma State vs. Missouri

Brett Deering

The game will kick off 7:30 p.m. ET on Fox.

Two old Big 12 rivals will meet up in the Cotton Bowl when Oklahoma State and Missouri will square off in one of the marquee non-BCS bowl games. Television coverage begins at 7:30 p.m. ET on Fox.

Oklahoma State started the season 3-0, but an upset loss to West Virginia seemed to end its season early. The Cowboys then won seven straight conference games, including blowout victories over Texas Tech, Texas and Baylor, and suddenly found themselves in the driver's seat for a BCS bowl game. A loss to Oklahoma in the finale ended those dreams, however, and Oklahoma State now finds itself in the Cotton Bowl.

Like Oklahoma State, Missouri seemed on track for a BCS bowl game, winning its first seven games -- with victories over ranked Georgia and Florida teams. A heartbreaking loss to South Carolina in double-overtime on a shanked field goal set the Tigers back, but four straight wins to end the season (including victories over Ole Miss and Texas A&M) gave them the division crown. The SEC Championship Game didn't go quite as well -- Auburn prevailed, 59-42, in a shootout.

The numbers

Rankings and records: Missouri is ranked No. 8, and Oklahoma State is No. 13. The Tigers are 11-2, winning the SEC East with a 7-1 conference record. The Cowboys went 10-2, and finished fourth in the Big 12 with a 7-2 record in conference play. The Tigers hold a 28-23 lead in the all-time series.

Vegas: Missouri is a one-point favorite. The over/under is 60.5 points.

Weather: Mid 40s.

Three names to know

Clint Chelf. Oklahoma State's quarterback took the job away from J.W. Walsh and totaled 21 touchdowns this season, including a phenomenal performance against Baylor to lead the Cowboys to victory.

James Franklin. After missing a month due to injury, the Missouri quarterback looked like his old self again, finishing the season with 23 total touchdowns against just five interceptions.

Michael Sam. The monstrous defensive lineman recorded 18 tackles for a loss, 10.5 sacks and a fumble returned for a touchdown for the Tigers this season.

Two things at stake

Oklahoma State will look exact revenge on the Tigers for leaving for the SEC.

The Tigers will try to show they made the right conference decision by beating one of the top teams from the Big 12.
