Florida State DT Timmy Jernigan declaring for 2014 NFL Draft

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Jernigan was one of the most dominant defensive players in America this season.

Florida State junior defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan will forego his senior season and enter the NFL Draft, according to ESPN's Joe Schad.

Jernigan was dominant for the Seminoles in 2013, compiling 63 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and two quarterback hurries. He played a big role in FSU's 34-31 BCS Championship Game win over Auburn, finishing second on the team with nine tackles and adding a half tackle for loss. He was battling illness, and it was obvious that the Tigers were able to have better success running the ball with Jernigan on the sideline.

Over the course of his three-year Florida State career, the lineman put up 138 tackles, 25 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks. A five-star prospect out of high school, he was a part of the Seminoles' 2011 recruiting class, which ranked second in the nation, according to the 247 Sports composite ratings.

Jernigan stands 6'2 and weighs in at 292 pounds. He is expected to be an early-round pick in April.
