Jameis Winston teases two more years at Florida State

Melina Vastola-USA TODAY Sports

The rising sophomore will be eligible for the NFL Draft after this season, and is expected to be the No. 1 pick whenever he leaves.

Jameis Winston will be eligible for next year's NFL Draft as his redshirt sophomore season, but the Heisman-winning quarterback may stick around an extra year at Florida State, via ESPN.

Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher said  "Everybody says, well he's going to stay one (more) year and leave. ... I think it'll be two," and Winston backed up his statement, saying whatever Fisher says "most likely is true."

"Obviously I'm a big baseball person, so that's an accurate statement because I plan on playing baseball next season anyway," said Winston, who is expected to be Florida State's closer this season.

Winston is expected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the draft whenever he decides to leave school, and could end up departing with multiple Heismans and national championships, after winning one of each as a redshirt freshman in 2013. After winning the starting quarterback job in camp, Winston threw for 4,057 yards and 40 touchdowns against 10 interceptions during the Seminoles' run to the crown.
