College football media day season is a time for coaches to talk about how optimistic and excited they are for the future. It's a time for new coaches to recruit everyone in earshot, or coaches on the hot seat to give one last PR stump speech.
It's rare that we learn much from these opening press conferences, but they're football in July, so we love them. And the Wall Street Journal found one fun and useful thing:

Not surprisingly, new coaches James Franklin and Steve Sarkisian had a lot to say — Sarkisian apparently about his former school, no less — while Bret Bielema is trying to convince everyone to "believe" after a dismal 3-9 first season.
Two of the least talkative coaches — Iowa's Kirk Ferentz and Virginia Tech's Frank Beamer — are two of the three longest-tenured coaches in the major conferences.
