Texas A&M was one of the bigger winners in the first week of college football action, traveling to Columbia and knocking off then-No. 9 South Carolina in a blowout, 52-28. The Aggies get a bit of a breather back home in their second game of the year, hosting FCS Lamar.
Even with the blowout victory over the Gamecocks, the Aggies are still somewhat of a mystery. They lost a lot of pieces from last year's squad, and had the perfect roster composition to take advantage of South Carolina's big weakness -- the secondary. Texas A&M has one of the top offensive lines in the nation and a number of freakish athletes at wide receiver, and new quarterback Kenny Hill (also known as Kenny Trill) seems to have the tools to take advantage of the proliferation of talent around him.
Lamar did win its first game of the season, defeating Grambling State, 42-27. The Cardinals have a strong passing game, but are not expected to be playoff contenders in the FCS this season.

Three names to know
Malcome Kennedy, WR, Texas A&M. The Aggies had nine receivers average at least 10 yards per catch in their win against South Carolina. Kennedy was not one of them, but he had twice as many receptions as anyone else on the team. The 6'0, 205-pound senior caught 14 passes for 137 yards and will pose matchup difficulties for the Cardinals.
Myles Garrett, DL, Texas A&M. The true freshman was the highest-touted player in the Aggies' 2014 class and made an impact from the start. He had two quarterback hurries and two tackles against South Carolina, including a sack that netted 11 yards.
Caleb Berry, QB, Lamar. The senior threw for 389 yards and five touchdowns against Grambling State, and has two dangerous weapons who could potentially cause problems for the Aggies' secondary. Reggie Begelton is the main target, catching 12 passes for 119 yards. Mark Roberts is an explosive threat -- he caught three passes for 139 yards in the opener.
Two things at stake
There's not much positive at stake here for the Aggies. After blowing out South Carolina in Week 1, they're expected to do that and more against Lamar.
Beyond a shocking loss, the biggest thing at stake is Kenny Hill's burgeoning (and way too early) Heisman candidacy. Another performance like his record-breaking one against South Carolina would certainly help it gain some steam.
