Just one game remains before the start of the 2013 NCAA Men's Hockey Tournament. The Michigan Wolverines will take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the CCHA Championship Game on Sunday, with the winner earning an automatic bid to hockey's big dance.
The Wolverines, especially, need the win. The Irish are currently ranked No. 9 in the latest USCHO poll, and could earn an at-large bid even with a loss. The Wolverines, however, are ranked No. 20 at 17-18-3 on the season. They have closed the year on a tear, winning eight of their final nine games with a tie to Ferris State in early March.
To get to the conference championship game, No. 7 seed Michigan beat No. 1 seed (and No. 3 in the country) Miami 6-2 in Detroit. Notre Dame, the No. 2 seed in the tournament, beat No. 4 Ohio State, 3-1, to advance.
