Manchester United Vs. Tottenham Hotspur: Bale doubles Spurs' lead

Stay connected with SB Nation

Um. So that whole Manchester United being good thing? Not so much. Tottenham Hotspur have scored again. The hosts are looking patchy at both ends of the pitch, and they've again allowed a Spurs player to run right up the pitch and shoot. This time it's Gareth Bale, who picked up a pass from Moussa Dembele just inside the United half and proceeded to gallop forward.

The home midfield parted around him for no apparent reason, and then Rio Ferdinand did the right thing in showing Bale onto his weaker foot as Tottenham dangerman burst into the area. However, the centre back didn't bother closing the shot down, and Bale scored anyway, slotting a right-footed effort past Anders Lindegaard to make it 2-0 Spurs. At Old Trafford. That's not a joke or a typo.

The only worry for Tottenham at this point is that William Gallas is limping about with an apparent injury, although it looks like he should be ok to continue for now.
