Premier League scores: Cardiff and West Brom go nuts, Chelsea upset by Palace

Laurence Griffiths

It's a shame that both Cardiff and West Brom won't be in the Premier League next year, most likely. They're quite fun.

Well, that was sufficiently crazy. And probably quite enjoyable for the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Sunderland.

Manchester United 4-1 Aston Villa

Villa struck first, but their defense fell apart in this one, conceding four in a row. Christian Benteke had plenty of chances to score and took none of them. Click here for full match report.

Crystal Palace 1-0 Chelsea

Palace have been absolutely brilliant at home since Tony Pulis took over, and this game was no exception. Chelsea had more of the ball and more shots, as expected, but Palace definitely earned their points in this one. The goal was an own goal by John Terry, who deflected a cross past Petr Čech. Cameron Jerome missed a chance to put the game away in the 74th minute when he hit the post, but it didn't matter, as his team ultimately held on to their clean sheet.

Southampton 4-0 Newcastle

As bad as this looks, it could have been much worse. Southampton missed about five golden chances before they finally took the lead in first half stoppage time, through Jay Rodriguez on a two-on-none that caught Newcastle's defense out. From there, the rout was on, with Rodriguez completing a brace, in addition to goals by Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana.

Stoke City 1-0 Hull City

It's now clear that Mark Hughes' side is absolutely safe from the drop, while Hull City still have a bit of work to do. Peter Odemwingie scored the only goal, finishing off a counter in the second half.

Swansea City 3-0 Norwich City

Swansea supporters will be salivating at the possibility of Michu and Wilfried Bony having a full season together next season without any serious injuries for the former or adjustment period for the latter. Michu helped to set up Jonathan De Guzmán's first, while Bony played a brilliant backheel assist for his second. Wayne Routledge rounded out the scoring in the 75th minute.

West Bromwich Albion 3-3 Cardiff City

This might end up as the match of the season if it ends up having any effect on Cardiff staying up or West Brom going down. It looked like the Baggies were on their way to a routine win after they scored twice in the first nine minutes, but Cardiff fought back. Jordon Mutch got a help from an odd gust of wind on his 30th minute goal and Steven Caulker pulled his side level in the 73rd. Thievy appeared to break the Bluebirds' hearts with his 94th minute strike, but the West Brom defense absolutely crumbled off the ensuing kickoff, allowing Mats Dæhli to get free and poke in a dramatic equalizer.

Arsenal 1-1 Manchester City
