We use the notable performances stream as a way of recognizing some under the radar players that are huge fantasy contributors in a given week but don't get nearly as much love. Carolina Panthers rookie QB Cam Newton is likely far out of this category given his continued strong performances. He had another solid showing against the New Orleans Saints, throwing for 224 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. Throw in another rushing touchdown and it was not too shabby. Given that we've had him several weeks now, why not give him another pat on the back before he completely forgets about us?
Newton did not have as big a performance as we saw early on, but he is turning into a relatively solid, consistent fantasy quarterback. Even when he doesn't put up 300+ yards we get rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. A rushing quarterback has a considerable amount of value given how much easier it is to accumulate points for rushing. It makes him an absolute fantasy force.
As we move forward, Newton has some intriguing matchups that likely make him worthy of continued starts. Leading up to the bye week, the Panthers travel to Atlanta and then host Washington and Minnesota. These aren't the greatest matchups he could have, but they are still solid enough. Newton is fast becoming a weekly must-start and you are missing out if you sit him.
