Detroit Lions running back Jahvid Best has struggled this season to get in gear, but on Monday Night Football, Best put together a monster second half to help guide the Lions to victory over the Chicago Bears. Best finished with 163 rushing yards, including a monster 88-yard touchdown run midway through the third quarter.
Prior to the 88-yard touchdown run, Best only had 13 yards rushing. He wasn't getting big runs, but he also wasn't getting many carries as he only had four prior to the big run. The Lions are a heavy passing team, which means Best is often reliant on big plays if he is going to secure big fantasy numbers. Owners got that in heavy doses on Monday Night and will be hoping he can build on that moving forward.
Jahvid Best faces a tough test in week six as the Lions host the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers are coming off a big win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in which they shut down LeGarrette Blount. The 49ers have one of the best rushing defenses in the league and will look to contain Best in the rushing game. That does not mean you should bench Best. It simply means he will have to take advantage of some of the other opportunities presented. The 49ers can be susceptible to the big play so Best will look to get a few big gains in some form or fashion on Sunday.
