Brandon Marshall Fantasy Recap: Dolphins WR Avoids Ejection In Monday Night Football

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall put together a huge performance on Monday Night Football against the New York Jets, but actually had a chance to do so much more. Marshall finished the game with 109 yards on six receptions as Matt Moore targeted him all night long. Although Darrelle Revis covered Marshall most of the evening, Moore showed no fear in going to his best receiver. This would seem to bode well for future fantasy success.

Marshall's performance was big but in reality it could have been much bigger. He missed a touchdown catch and ran out of bounds on a big play when he seemingly could have continued for more yards. We don't know exactly what the balancing act was going down the line, but it seemed just a bit off.

Moving forward, Brandon Marshall could re-emerge as an excellent fantasy option. If Matt Moore is going to target him so frequently, there is nothing to stop him from putting together a nice run in coming weeks. This coming Sunday the Dolphins host the Denver Broncos, which seemingly bodes well for Marshall.

Santonio Holmes Fantasy Recap: Jets WR Takes Advantage Of Limited Mark Sanchez Targets

The New York Jets had little trouble on Monday Night Football against the Miami Dolphins and wide receiver Santonio Holmes was a key contributor. Holmes was only targeted four times by Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, but he hauled in three receptions for 61 yards and a touchdown on those limited opportunities. A twelve point fantasy outing likely helped a few of you out there.

Sanchez is not exactly a great fantasy quarterback, and it appears to drag down Holmes to some extent. Holmes is talented enough to retain much of his fantasy value, but as long as Sanchez is not targeting him more, he will not be a fantastic fantasy option. Good enough that you have to start him every week, but you won't get many monster performances. It's not the end of the world, but it can be a little frustrating.

The Jets host the San Diego Chargers next week before getting a bye in week eight. The Chargers defense has struggled a bit at times this season so we'll see if Sanchez and Holmes can take advantage.

Jimmy Graham, Marques Colston Fantasy Recap: Saints Passing Game Explosive In Defeat

For New Orleans Saints fans, Sunday's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was a tough game to stomach. For fantasy owners, it was a strong return to form for the Saints receiving corps. Although Drew Brees struggled through three interceptions, his 383 yards were capitalized on by the likes of tight end Jimmy Graham and wide receiver Marques Colston. Graham led the team with 124 yards on seven catches, while Marques Colston grabbed 118 yards and a touchdown on seven catches.

Graham has emerged as an impressive fantasy prospect at the tight end position and is a must start moving forward. Colston has been recovering his a collarbone injury and showed that he is in fact 100% and good to go. He should be reinserted into your lineup on a regular basis.

The Saints passing attack faces a nice little string of opponents over the next month leading into their bye week. They host the Indianapolis Colts, travel St. Louis to face the Rams, and then host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They should be able to put up solid passing numbers in all three of those games.

Fred Davis Fantasy Recap: Redskins Tight End Continues Breakout Season

Washington Redskins tight end Fred Davis continued what has been a bit of a breakout season for him in 2011. Davis led the Redskins in receiving in their 20-13 loss to the Eagles as he hauled in 95 yards on six receptions. Davis had emerged past Chris Cooley this season and received a further boost thanks to Cooley's broken finger this week. Davis has had a couple down weeks, but has shown enough to warrant a continued starting role if you don't have one of the big name tight ends.

As the Redskins look ahead to week seven, Davis could find himself in line for another huge day as Washington travels to Carolina to take on the Panthers. While the Panthers have been highly entertaining in 2011, they also have struggled in several facets of defense. I would expect Davis to continue as the team's leading receiver and put together another solid game.

Earnest Graham Fantasy Recap: LeGarrette Blount Replacement Looks Sharp

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Earnest Graham put together a strong performance Sunday afternoon as he finished with 109 rushing yards and 22 receiving yards in the Bucs 26-20 victory over the New Orleans Saints. Graham started the game because LeGarrette Blount suffered a knee injury and will likely miss a few weeks.

Kregg Lumpkin received a pair of carries on Sunday, but it appears as thought Earnest Graham is the guy moving forward until Blount returns. Graham rushed for 898 yards for the Bucs in 2007 and is used to handling the rushing load for extended periods. Blount has been quite solid in his first two years in the NFL, but Graham should be able to hold the rushing load down while Blount is absent.

The Bucs host the Chicago Bears next Sunday. The Bears normally stout defense has been leaking a bit at times this season, which could make for a solid matchup on Sunday for Graham. For now, Graham is a solid flex or RB2.

Rashard Mendenhall Fantasy Recap: Steelers Running Back Returns From Obscurity

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall broke out Sunday in a big way as the Steelers held off the Jacksonville Jaguars 17-13. Mendenhall had not exceeded 66 rushing yards prior to Sunday but he blew up with 146 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries. After averaging no more than 3.8 yards per carry, Mendenhall averaged 6.3 in the victory.

The Steelers as a whole had been struggling along with Mendenhall and his return to form could mirror the Steelers return. Mendenhall gets a juicy week seven matchup as the Steelers head to Arizona to face the Cardinals. Road games are never simple, but this would seem to provide an opportunity for Mendenhall to build on his week six success.

It is also useful to note that Isaac Redman and Jonathan Dwyer combined for only six carries behind Mendenhall. There was some thought they might get a few extra carries, but that was not the case on Sunday. Mendenhall is the guy in the backfield and that is that.

Josh Freeman Fantasy Recap: Bucs QB Rebounds Versus Saints

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman bounced back nicely Sunday afternoon against the New Orleans Saints, a week after a dismal performance had some questioning his fantasy ability. Freeman had thrown two picks and only 187 yards against the 49ers before welcoming the Saints to town. Although his completion percentage remained south of 60%, Freeman was otherwise spectacular in the Bucs victory, throwing for 303 yards and two touchdowns.

Freeman and the Bucs are back in action this Sunday against a Bears defense that has been rather questionable against the pass in 2011. The Bears have been inconsistent at best and Freeman likely is worth rolling back out if you have been starting him. The Bucs are likely going to have a few ups and downs throughout the season, but you'll simply have to ride the roller coaster if Freeman is your QB.

Cam Newton Fantasy Recap: Superman Is All Over The Place

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton continued his wild ride on Sunday as he put together a mixed-bag performance against the Atlanta Falcons. Although Newton did throw three interceptions, he also put together another big rushing day to more than offset the picks. Newton finished the game with 237 passing yards, 3 interceptions, 50 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. For most leagues, that qualifies for approximately 14 points. It was not a fantastic day, but still respectable.

Cam Newton will have his share of passing struggles as a rookie, but his raw athleticism allows him to overcome that to some extent with his rushing game. He may eventually become a more disciplined scrambler, but he is doing some serious damage at this point, which is a boon for fantasy owners.

Carolina hosts the Washington Redskins this coming Sunday in what should be another tough challenge for the rookie QB. Washington's rush defense is not particularly great, but they bring a serious pass defense to the table. They struggled against scrambling QB Michael Vick, so we'll see if Newton can bring it on Sunday. While his performance remains to be seen, he would appear to be a safe bet to continue starting if you have added him to your lineup.

Matt Forte Fantasy Update: Chicago Bears RB Has No Problems Running Against Minnesota Vikings

Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte is having no issues running all over the Minnesota Vikings defense. Through the start of the third quarter, Forte has 87 yards on 13 carries, but no touchdowns. Marion Barber has the Bears' one rushing touchdown.

Forte has the NFL's only 200-yard rushing game this season. After Jay Cutler was nearly turned into ground beef in the Bears' first three games, Forte has been the focal point of the offense. His 205-yard game came against Carolina in week 4, and rushed for 116-yards the week after that.

Through the first five weeks of the season, Forte had 440 yards on 82 carries with one touchdown. He also had 30 receptions for 345 yards and one touchdown prior to the Bears' game against the Vikings

Forte is ranked third on Fake Teams' week 6 running back rankings

Donovan McNabb Fantasy Update: Minnesota Vikings QB

Donovan McNabb finished the first half of the Minnesota Vikings game against the Chicago Bears with 15-of-19 passes completed for 138 yards. But he doesn't have any touchdowns, hurting his fantasy performance a bit. His fantasy value was close to bottoming when it appeared Christian Ponder appeared ready to enter the game. That just proved to be a tease.

McNabb was averaging 170 passing yards a game with 849 passing yards on the season and four touchdowns with two interceptions through his first five games of the 2011 NFL season. McNabb's passing yards per game is down nearly 100 yards per game.

McNabb was ranked by Yahoo! as the twenty third quarterback heading into Week 6 with the taking on the Chicago Bears who rank 27th against the pass.

Jay Cutler Fantasy Update: Chicago Bears QB Throws Two Touchdowns In 1st Half

The Chicago Bears built up a sizable 26-3 lead over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football in large part due to Jay Cutler. Cutler has thrown for 192 yards and two touchdown passes after one half of play. He had an impressive 48 yard throw to Devin Hester, providing fantasy owners bonus points in leagues that do track distance.

Cutler was averaging 241 passing yards a game with 1,209 passing yards on the season and six touchdowns with four interceptions through his first three games of the 2011 NFL season. Cutler's passing yards per game is up nearly 30 yards per game.

Cutler was ranked by Yahoo! as the eighteenth quarterback heading into Week 6 with the taking on the Minnesota Vikings who rank 25th against the pass.

Adrian Peterson Fantasy Update: Minnesota Vikings RB Struggles In 1st Half Against Chicago Bears

Adrian Peterson has struggled through the first half of the Minnesota Vikings game against the Chicago Bears. He has just eight carries for 16 yards. This is a far cry from last week's three touchdown runs in the first quarter. Can he make this more of a game in the second half? The Bears lead at halftime, 26-3.

Peterson is averaging just under 100 yards per game this season with 498 rushing yards and six touchdowns through his first five weeks of the 2011 NFL season, including three touchdowns last week. He also has nine receptions for 49 yards on the season, which is down significantly from his receiving numbers the past two years.

Peterson's still among the elite fantasy football players, and was ranked by Yahoo! as the fifth best running back in Week 6 with the Vikings going up against a Bears defense ranked 28th against the run.

Kevin Walter Fantasy Update: Matt Schaub's Top Option Nets Just 52 Yards Through Air

Kevin Walter has been a bit of a fantasy football tease ever since his breakout season with the Houston Texans in 2007 and a solid follow-up in 2008. With Andre Johnson out again for Sunday's game against the Baltmiore Ravens, it represented another chance for him to regain some fantasy impact.

Walter wasn't exactly able to capitalize, however, as the Texans wide receiver hauled in six passes for 52 yards and no touchdowns. It wasn't a bad day by any means as only  running back Arian Foster had as many receptions for Houston, but he'll be looked at less when Johnson returns.

Walter was averaging 130 receiving yards a game with 222 receiving yards on the season and two touchdowns through his first five games of the 2011 NFL season. Walter's receiving yards per game is down nearly 5 yards per game. Walter was ranked by Yahoo! as the 36th ranked wide receiver heading into Week 6 taking on the Houston Texans who rank 8th against the pass.

Michael Bush Fantasy Update: Oakland Raiders RB Quiet Against Cleveland Browns

Michael Bush's fantasy value is directly tied to how many goal line carries he receives since Darren McFadden is the undisputed starter. Unfortunately for Bush and fantasy owners, he was unable to crack the end zone and gained just 28 yards on 10 carries. With Jason Campbell out for the season, the Raiders could turn to a more run-oriented offense and give more carries to Bush.

Bush entered Sunday's game averaging just 22 yards through five games, the result of Darren McFadden being a beast on the ground. He picked up three goal line touchdowns during Weeks 2-4, but was held scoreless against the Houston Texans.

Bush was the No. 32 running back, according to Yahoo!'s Week 6 fantasy rankings. That's a 31-spot gap between he and teammate Darren McFadden, the top back entering Week 6.

Anquan Boldin Fantasy Update: Ravens Wide Receiver Picked Up 132 Yards In Victory

Anquan Boldin was held without a touchdown for the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, but that doesn't mean he was worthless for his fantasy owners on Sunday afternoon. In fact, thanks to what ended up being a porous Houston Texans defense, Boldin had the fourth best fantasy football game from receivers at the conclusion of Sunday afternoon's game.

Boldin hauled in eight receptions for 132 yards, accounting for nearly half of Joe Flacco's 20 total completions. His game could've been better, but the Ravens two touchdowns came on a Flacco sneak and Ricky Williams run as the remainder of their points came on field goal attempts.

Boldin was averaging 56 receiving yards a game with 222 receiving yards on the season and one touchdown through his first five games of the 2011 NFL season. Boldin's receiving yards per game is up nearly 5 yards per game.

Boldin was ranked by Yahoo! as the 18th ranked wide receiver heading into Week 6 taking on the Houston Texans who rank 6th against the pass.

Earnest Graham Fantasy: Buccaneers RB Has Solid Start With 109 Yards

Earnest Graham demonstrated he could shoulder the load as the main running back for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with 17 carries for 109 yards against the New Orleans Saints. He averaged 6.4 yards per carry. Graham also caught two passes for 22 yards.

Graham benefited from an injury to LeGarrette Blount, allowing him the opportunity to start against the New Orleans Saints. He's been used in a variety of role for the Bucs this season, but this time he was in line to receiver more snaps than his season high of six back in Week 1. He entered Sunday with 84 yards on 18 carries, but had more success in the air, grabbing 23 passes for 143 yards through the first five games of the season.

Yahoo!'s Week 6 rankings had him as the No. 21 back entering the weekend, making him a decent secondary start.

Marques Colston Fantasy Update: New Orleans Saints WR Finishes With 118 Yards

Marques Colston provided his fantasy football owners with a solid performance with seven receptions for 118 yards and one touchdown. He was six yards behind tight end Jimmy Graham for the team lead in receiving yards. Colston and Graham each received 11 targets from Brees, but the touchdown gave Colston the edge on Sunday.

Colston was averaging 53 receiving yards a game with 158 receiving yards on the season and zero touchdowns through his first five games of the 2011 NFL season. Colston's receiving yards per game is down nearly 15 yards per game.

Colston was ranked by Yahoo! as the 16th ranked wide receiver heading into Week 6 taking on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who rank 20th against the pass.

Pierre Garcon Fantasy Update: Colts WR Caught 8 Passes, But Compiled Few Yards

Pierre Garcon has quickly become Curtis Painter's favorite option, but it didn't exactly pay fantasy football dividends on Sunday. The Indianapolis Colts wide receiver had plenty of receptions, but his statistics were only solid in points per reception leagues.

Garcon caught the most balls of any Colts receiver as he hauled in eight receptions, but those eight catches translated into just 52 yards. Making matters worse, he also lost a fumble, costing his owners a few points in most standard scoring leagues.

Garcon was averaging 84 receiving yards a game with 420 receiving yards on the season and four touchdowns through his first five games of the 2011 NFL season. Garcon's yards per game is up nearly 30 yards per game from last season.

Garcon was ranked by Yahoo! as the 20th ranked wide receiver heading into Week 6 taking on the Cincinnati Bengals who rank 3rd against the pass.

Pierre Thomas Fantasy Update: New Orleans Saints RB Barely A Factor

With Drew Brees nearly passing for 400 yards, the New Orleans Saints running game barely got off the ground. Pierre Thomas, the third back in the Saints' trio came in last with seven carries for 11 yards. He also caught one pass for five yards, but he isn't much of a fantasy option.

Fantasy owners had to wait until Week 5 for Thomas to score his first touchdown of the season, a six-yard touchdown reception against the Panthers. For the season, Thomas is just about even in racking up the yard in the air and on the ground. He entered Sunday's game with 154 rushing yards and 133 receiving yards. However, splitting time with Darren Sproles and Mark Ingram has taken a fantasy toll on each of them.

Fantasy owners found Thomas as the No. 33 running back in Yahoo!'s Week 6 NFL fantasy rankings, the last among Saints backs. Darren Sproles was No. 16 and Mark Ingram was No. 25.

Deion Branch Fantasy Update: Patriots WR Had One Big Catch, But No Touchdowns In Win

Deion Branch isn't the biggest name in the New England Patriots passing game, but that doesn't mean the diminutive wide receiver isn't able to put up fantasy statistics. In fact, in Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys, Branch caught three passes for 69 yards.

The majority of Branch's passing yards came to start the second quarter when Tom Brady connected with his wide receiver for a 45-yard gain to convert on a third-and-nine attempt.  Brady then connected with Branch for a 12-yard gain two plays later, but he had just one more catch the rest of the game and was held out of the endzone as Brady found Wes Welker and Aaron Hernandez instead.

Branch was averaging 60 receiving yards a game with 300 receiving yards on the season and two touchdowns through his first five weeks of the 2011 NFL season. Branch's receiving yards per game is up nearly 5 yards per game.

Branch was ranked by Yahoo! as the 22nd ranked wide receiver heading into Week 6 taking on the Dallas Cowboys who rank 14th against the pass.

Jimmy Graham Fantasy: New Orleans Saints TE Puts Up 124 Receiving Yards

Jimmy Graham continued to prove that he is the top fantasy tight end with seven receptions and 124 receiving yards in a losing effort against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was one of three New Orleans Saints receivers who received 11 targets from Drew Brees.

Graham entered Sunday's contest as the team's leading receiver with 32 receptions for 496 yards and three touchdowns. He did that on the strength of three straight 100-plus yard receiving yard performances. In those games he had 100, 132 and 129 yards through the air. He had just one of his three touchdown catches during that span, but fantasy owners shouldn't be complaining much.

Graham is the elite of the elite tight ends in Week 6, taking the No. 1 spot in Yahoo!'s fantasy rankings.

Evan Moore Fantasy Update: Browns Tight End Struggled With Stats On Sunday

Evan Moore looked like he might have a large role in the Cleveland Browns passing attack after two solid games to start the season. Colt McCoy threw to his other tight end (Ben Watson) against the Oakland Raiders, however, leaving Moore to make little fantasy impact.

Moore had two receptions for 12 yards as his quarterback threw 45 passes, but McCoy completed just 21 of his attempts -- to eight different receivers. If anyone was counting on Moore's statistics, it's probably time to look at around the waiver wire this week as McCoy isn't consistently completing enough passes to the third-year pro.

Moore was averaging 21 receiving yards a game with 85 receiving yards on the season and two touchdowns through his first five weeks of the 2011 NFL season. Moore's receiving yards per game is down nearly 5 yards per game.

Moore was not ranked by Yahoo! heading into Week 6 taking on the Oakland Raiders who rank 29th against the pass.

Jermaine Gresham Fantasy: Cincinnati Bengals TE Has Quiet Day With 23 Receiving Yards

Cincinnati Bengals tight end Jermaine Gresham caught four passes for 23 yards in a victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Andy Dalton did target him six times, third most on the team, but Jerome Simpson was a beast with six receptions for 101 yards. Gresham had a long catch of 13 yards, not enough to give extra points in leagues that provide bonuses based on reception yards.

Gresham was averaging 42 receiving yards a game with 208 receiving yards on the season and three touchdowns through his first five games of the 2011 NFL season. Gresham's receiving yards per game is up nearly 10 yards per game.

Gresham was ranked by Yahoo! as the 7th ranked tight end heading into Week 6 taking on the Indianapolis Colts who rank 19th against the pass.

Ed Dickson Fantasy Update: Baltimore Ravens TE A Non-Factor On Sunday

Ed Dickson wasn't much of a fantasy football factor during Week 6. He had just two receptions for 20 yards in the Baltimore Ravens' victory over the Houston Texans. Joe Flacco liked Anquan Boldin and Torrey Smith more on Sunday, throwing 216 of his 305 yards to them.

Dickson was averaging 45 receiving yards a game with 180 receiving yards on the season and one touchdown through his first five games of the 2011 NFL season. Dickson's receiving yards per game is up nearly 35 yards per game.

Kellen Winslow Fantasy Update: Tampa Bay TE Helps Bucs To Victory With 40 Yards

Kellen Winslow benefited from Josh Freeman's 303-yard performance on Sunday with five receptions for 40 yards. However, that performance isn't quite that exciting for fantasy owners, except for those that gain points for receptions. He should continue to get looks from Freeman as he was targeted 10 times, second best on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Winslow was averaging 43 receiving yards a game with 217 receiving yards on the season and zero touchdowns through his first five games of the 2011 NFL season. Winslow's receiving yards per game is down nearly 2 yards per game.

Peyton Hillis Fantasy Update: Hamstring Tweak Leaves Hillis Out For Majority Of Game

Peyton Hillis didn't help the Cleveland Browns or fantasy football owners on Sunday. After a couple of carries in the first quarter, Hillis left the game with a hamstring tweak. The Browns put him back in the game for a few runs during the fourth quarter. He finished the game with six carries for 14 yards.

Strep throat, contracts ... Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis has had plenty of distractions this season. Prior to week 6, he had just three starts. He averaged 65.7 yards in those games. Hillis has a total of 197 rushing yards on 54 carries to go with two touchdowns. He also has 15 receptions and 76 receiving yards.

Cleveland's opponent, Oakland, was allowing an average of 122 rushing yards per game prior to today's game. Hillis was ranked 16th by Fake Teams in their week 6 running back rankings.

Mark Ingram Fantasy Update: Saints RB Leads New Orleans With 22 Rushing Yards

Mark Ingram led the New Orleans Saints' three-headed running attack with just 22 yards. However, he did punch the ball into the end zone to close the scoring gap against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (only to see it reopened later). Ingram caught one pass for six yards.

Ingram had just 216 yards on 62 carries entering Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, never going over 55 yards per contest. Over the last few weeks, the team had tried to involve him more in the passing game, but nothing of real fantasy value has come of it yet. But a turn against the Bucs' defense was expected to open things up for him.

Ingram was ranked the No. 25 running back in Yahoo!'s Week 6 fantasy rankings, nine spots behind teammate Darren Sproles, who offers a more varied role.

Rob Gronkowski Fantasy Update: New England TE Leads Patriots With 74 Receiving Yards

Rob Gronkowski led the New England Patriots in receiving yards with 74 and was second in receptions with seven against the Dallas Cowboys. However, fantasy owners are likely fretting a little that Gronkowski has not picked up a touchdown reception since Week 3.

Gronkowski had seen his fantasy production dip prior to Sunday's game against the Cowboys. Against the Jets, Gronkowski battled sickness, but he wound up catching four balls for 31 yards. Against the Raiders, he had just once reception for 15 yards. His first three games were outstanding, with two games of 86 yards and a seven-reception, 109-yard performance against the Bills.

Yahoo!'s Week 6 fantasy rankings placed him as the No. 9 tight end, four spots behind teammate Aaron Hernandez.

Jake Ballard Fantasy Update: New York Giants TE Picks Up 81 Yards

Jake Ballard continued to be a boon to fantasy owners in Week 6. Though he didn't grab any touchdowns (how could he with Ahmad Bradshaw rushing the end zone for three scores?), Ballard caught five passes for 81 yards. That was second best on the team. Eli Manning has surely found a reliable receiver behind Hakeem Nicks.

Ballard had been a pleasant surprise entering Sunday's game against the Bills. He had 19 receptions for 192 yards and two touchdowns on the season, including 72 yards in a losing effort against the Seahawks. Ballard's gain has been Travis Beckum's loss. Beckum was injured to start the season, allowing Ballard to gain much needed playing time.

Yahoo! Sports didn't feel great about Ballard for Week 6, ranking him just the No. 21 tight end.

Darrius Heyward-Bey Fantasy Update: DHB Tops 80 Yards

Oakland Raiders wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey continued his streak of fine performances today. Against the Cleveland Browns, Heyward-Bey finished with 82 yards on six catches. He did not score a touchdown in the Raiders' win at home. He averaged 13.7 yards per catch, leading his team in receptions and yardage.

Heyward-Bey was averaging 65 receiving yards a game with 263 receiving yards on the season and one touchdown through his first five games of the 2011 NFL season. Heyward-Bey's yards per game is up nearly 40 yards per game from last season.

David Nelson Fantasy Update: Nelson Leads Bills Receivers With 62 Yards

David Nelson was unable to come up with a touchdown grab on Sunday for the Buffalo Bills, but he did haul in four receptions for 62 yards, best on the team. Ryan Fitzpatrick targeted him six times, second only to Steve Johnson's 10, which bodes well for him as long as he starts in place of Donald Jones.

Nelson moved into the starting lineup on Sunday following Donald Jones' high-ankle sprain the previous week. Acting as the slot receiver in previous weeks, Nelson tallied 23 receptions for 257 yards and one touchdown. But over the previous two games, Nelson's production slipped to three catches for 24 yards.

Johnson was just the No. 24 wide receiver in the Week 6 Yahoo! NFL rankings, 13 spots behind teammate Steve Johnson.

Arian Foster Fantasy Update: Quiet Day For Foster

Texans running back Arian Foster had a pretty quiet outing in a loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Foster had just 49 yards on 15 carries today.

For the season, Arian Foster has 256 rushing yards on 62 attempts and one touchdown in three games played. He had ten catches for 134 yards prior to Houston's week 6 game against the Baltimore Ravens

Andy Dalton found his fellow rookie once again for a touchdown in the Bengals' win over the Colts today. A. J. Green finished the game with 51 yards on five receptions. It was his fourth touchdown of the year, and he and Dalton seemed to have formed a solid connection for the surprisingly successful Bengals.

Green was averaging 80 receiving yards a game with 402 receiving yards on the season and three touchdowns through his first five games of the 2011 NFL season. Green's having the best rookie season out of the rookie wide receiver class.

Steve Johnson Fantasy Update: Bills WR Grabs Late Touchdown

Steve Johnson would have been a hero for the Buffalo Bills had his game-tying touchdown in the fourth quarter eventually given way to a Bills victory, but it wasn't to be. Still, fantasy owners are happy with the touchdown after not having any the previous two weeks. However, he picked up just 39 yards on five receptions against the New York Giants.

Johnson was averaging 68 receiving yards a game with 343 receiving yards on the season and three touchdowns through his first five weeks of the 2011 NFL season. Johnson's receiving yards per game is nearly identical to last season's.

DeAngelo Williams Fantasy Update: Williams Finishes With Fewer Rushing Yards Than Cam Newton

DeAngelo Williams was only the third best running back on the Carolina Panthers during Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons. He finished the day with 12 carries for 44 yards and zero touchdowns. Quarterback Cam Newton led all Panthers running backs with 50 yards on six carries.

Williams finally broke the century mark a week ago when he picked up 115 yards on the ground against the New Orleans Saints. He needed just nine carries and a 69-yard run to make it happen. That run also resulted in his first touchdown of the season.

Williams had 258 rushing yards entering Sunday's game against the Falcons. He was ranked the 26th best running back entering the week, according to Yahoo!'s fantasy rankings.

Steven Jackson Fantasy Update: Jackson Nears The 100-Yard Mark

Steven Jackson rushed for 96 yards on 18 carries as the Rams were easily dispatched by the Packers today. It was Jackson's second game with a full workload since injuring his quad in the season opener.

Last week's bye came at just the right time for Jackson. Dealing with a quad injury, the week off gave him some much needed rest. Jackson has just 124 total yards on 23 carries in three limited appearances this season. Health is the biggest concern, as Jackson has been effective when he has played, averaging 5.4 yards per carry.

Projections place Jackson on the border between a RB2/Flex option in standard leagues. Yahoo! Sports had him as the 19th-best running back heading into Week 6's matchup against the Packers. He could be in Top 10 if only  injuries weren't a concern, but alas a heavy toll over the years has made Jackson a risky weekly starter.

Schaub enters Week 6 averaging 275.4 passing yards per game with 1377 total yards and nine touchdowns through his first five weeks of the 2011 NFL season. Last week against the Raiders Schaub topped 400 yards through the air with two touchdowns, but also two interceptions.

Schaub has been an average fantasy quarterback this season. Yahoo! Sports ranked him as the 14th-best play for Week 6, matched up against the Ravens stingy defense, ranked 8th against the pass.

Tony Romo Fantasy Update: Romo Passing On The Patriots

With five minutes left to play, Tony Romo has so far out-dueled Tom Brady. Romo has benefited greatly from the return of Miles Austin. The Dallas quarterback has 286 passing yards on 25 completions in 38 attempts. He has a touchdown and an interception to go with those stats.

Romo entered Week 6 averaging 318.3 passing yards per game with 1273 yards and seven touchdowns racked up through his first four games of the season. In his last time out, he threw four three touchdowns and three interceptions in a loss against Detroit that illustrated the good and bad sides of the Romo experience.

Still, Romo is an elite fantasy quarterback. Yahoo! Sports ranked him as the third-best quarterback to play in Week 6. The Cowboys face the Patriots, who feature the worst pass defense in the league.

Hernandez is averaging 73.7 receiving yards per game this season with 221 yards and two touchdowns through the first five weeks of the 2011 NFL season. He missed weeks three and four, but caught five balls for 56 yards in his return last Sunday against the New York Jets.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy has just 114 yards and one touchdown as the Browns are losing to the Oakland Raiders with half the fourth quarter remaining. McCoy has completed only 11 of 29 passes for the day so far. The Browns are starved for a wide receiver, and McCoy's performance is a good reminder of why.

McCoy was averaging 246 passing yards a game with 984 passing yards on the season and six touchdowns with three interceptions through the first five games of the 2011 NFL season. McCoy's passing yards per game is up by almost 100 yards per game.

Matt Stafford Fantasy Update: Solid Outing Can't Help Lions Stay Undefeated

Matt Stafford played a pretty good game today, but it was not enough to help his team avoid their first loss of the season. Stafford completed 28 of 50 passes for two touchdowns and 293 yards against the 49ers. For the first time this season he did not connect with wide receiver Calvin Johnson for a touchdown pass.

A healthy Stafford has been outstanding for the Lions this season, throwing 1,436 yards and 13 touchdowns through the NFL's first five weeks. He has taken remarkably good care of the ball as well, throwing just four interceptions on the year. As long as he has Calvin Johnson by his side (29 catches, 451 yards, 9 touchdowns), Stafford should continue to be a solid fantasy starter.

Stafford ranked seventh in Yahoo! Sports' fantasy rankings heading into Week 6 against the San Francisco 49ers. If injury issues don't rear their ugly head again, Stafford should keep paying off solid dividends for owners.

Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen caught five passes for 42 yards in his team's loss to the Atlanta Falcons today. He did not score a touchdown as Atlanta's defense mostly kept the Panthers' receiving options in check all day.

Olsen is averaging 48 yards per game this season with 240 receiving yards and three touchdowns through the first five weeks of the 2011 NFL season, including one touchdown each of the last three weeks.

Olsen is decent option as a fantasy tight end, and was ranked by Yahoo! Sports as the ninth-best tight end to own in Week 6, going up against the Falcons pass defense, which is ranked 28th in the NFL.

Darren McFadden Fantasy Update: Another Solid Game For McFadden

Darren McFadden is once again stepping up to help his team. The Raiders' running back has 79 rushing yards on 16 carries and one touchdown against the Cleveland Browns. His longest run of the day was a 24-yard scamper.

For the year, McFadden has carried the ball 91 times for 519 yards and three touchdowns, putting up solid numbers for fantasy owners. He's also been somewhat of a threat in the passing game, catching 17 balls for 149 yards and a score.

Facing a susceptible defense and given his performance throughout the season thus far, McFadden had already proven himself as one of the elite backs. McFadden came into the week ranked by Yahoo! as the top running back.

Ray Rice Fantasy Update: Little Room To Run For Rice

Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice has found little room to move against the Houston Texans today. He has just 39 yards on 15 carries. His 2.6 yards per carry average is well below his season average of 4.5 yards per attempt.

Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice is averaging just over 74 yards per game. He has a total of 297 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns through the Ravens' first four games of the season; they were on a bye in week 5. As a receiver, Rice has 16 catches, 242 yards and two touchdowns. That puts him on pace for more than 950 receiving yards this season.

Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman is looking to rebound this week, and has done a solid job of that through almost three quarters of play. Freeman has Tampa Bay leading New Orleans by a score of 20-13 with two passing touchdowns and 238 yards.

Tampa Bay quarterback Josh Freeman had just three touchdowns and six interceptions prior to this week's game against the New Orleans Saints. He threw just six picks all last season, to go with 25 touchdowns and more than 3,400 yards.

Tom Brady Fantasy Update: Brady Has Just One Touchdown Early In The Game

It's been a quiet day so far for Patriots QB Tom Brady. Through almost three quarters of play against Dallas, Brady is 14 for 22 for 161 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Brady and the Patriots have accounted for 1,313 passing yards this season, an average of 437.7 yards per game. That number looks gaudy by itself, but becomes even more massive when put against the Saints’ 338.0 yards per game, which is good for second place even though a tick shy of 100 yards behind New England’s pace.

Brady is rated fourth-overall amongst quarterbacks by Yahoo! Sports. Still, it would be hard not feel good about your chances with Tom Brady as your QB.

James Starks Fantasy Stats: Packers WR Has Quiet Day

James Starks had two catches and 17 total receiving yards on Sunday against the Rams. Not a very big day from the wide receiver in a game where Aaron Rodgers was handing out touchdown passes.

Starks took over the starting running back duties for the Packers two weeks ago when Ryan Grant went down with a kidney injury. He kept that role when Grant returned to the lineup against the Falcons, but both looked for strong games against the St. Louis Rams' No. 32 rush defense.

For the season, Starks had 250 yards entering the game against the Rams an was the No. 19 running back, according to Yahoo!'s fantasy rankings.

Jermichael Finley Fantasy Stats: Not Much To See Here

Aaron Rodgers tossed three touchdown passes on Sunday against the Rams, but Jermichael Finley was not on the receiving end of any of them. In fact, Finley caught just one ball for 20 yards.

Green Bay beat St. Louis 24-3, but their offense stalled in the second half, mostly because the Packers could afford to. Green Bay scored all of its points before halftime.

Finley wowed fantasy owners several weeks ago when he caught seven passes for 85 yards and three touchdowns. In the two games after that, he had seven catches for 95 yards and zero touchdowns. Overall, he has 22 catches for 301 yards.

Finley checked in as the No. 2 wide receiver, according to Yahoo!'s Week 6 NFL rankings, largely because of the matchup against the Rams.

Maurice Jones-Drew Fantasy Stats: Slow Day For MJD

Maurice Jones-Drew got stuck with 96 yards rushing on Sunday and failed to get in the end zone. Not great stats for fantasy football owners. In general, the Jaguars failed to do much of anything offensively in a 17-13 loss to the Steelers.

For the year, Jones-Drew's production is down, especially in the red zone. Through five games, the Jaguars' back has recorded just two touchdowns while carrying the ball 96 times for 476 yards. The yardage is there, but the scoring hadn't come heading into Sunday's matchup with the Steelers.

Jones-Drew was the 11th-best running back play heading into the week, according to Yahoo!'s fantasy ranking. He hasn't quite been elite, and his touchdowns are down, but Jones-Drew remains a solid fantasy start.

Matt Stafford Fantasy: Lions QB Tosses 2 Touchdowns

Matthew Stafford raised the bar so high for his fantasy production that a day like Sunday actually seems somewhat disappointing. Of course, passing for 293 yards and two touchdowns is hardly something to scoff at. But Stafford did come up short on the scoreboard as well, failing to move the Lions on their final drive of the game.

Stafford entered Week 6 averaging 287 passing yards per game this season with 1436 yards and 13 touchdowns in his first five weeks of the 2011 NFL Season. He has thrown for two touchdowns each of the last three weeks.

Having Calvin Johnson at wide receiver helps boost Stafford's fantasy potential. Yahoo! Sports ranked Stafford as the seventh best quarterback for Week 6. He faces the 49ers 23rd-ranked pass defense.

Vernon Davis Fantasy: 49ers TE Has Very Quiet Day

Vernon Davis has been one of the more reliable fantasy tight ends this season, but he was uncharacteristically invisible during the San Francisco 49ers' win over the Detroit Lions. Davis was held to just two catches and eight yards, both season lows. It was just the eighth time since 2009 and the second time this year that Davis has been held to less than 30 yards receiving.

Davis came into the game averaging just over 50 receiving yards a game with 263 receiving yards on the season and thee touchdowns through the first five games of the 2011 NFL season, but had the worst game of his season in Week 4 prior to the bye week.

Fred Jackson Fantasy: Bills RB With Another Monster Game

Fred Jackson just continues to churn out impressive fantasy performances. The Buffalo Bills running back turned in another one on Sunday, rushing for 121 yards and a touchdown, while adding 47 yards on five catches. He even threw in a 80-yard touchdown run for those of you in bonus leagues.

It continued what has been a monster thus far in 2011, both in fantasy and real-life. In points-per-reception leagues, he's been especially dominant as his role as Ryan Fitzpatrick's favorite checkdown option and a featured screen returner has opened up opportunities to gain massive chunks of yardage.

He's parlayed those opportunities to 480 rushing yards, 232 receiving yards and five total touchdowns, making him a matchup-proof RB1 in the early going. Yahoo!'s guys ranked him as the fifth-best running back for the Bills' Week 6 tilt against the Giants, who were giving up the 11th-most rushing yards and third-most rushing touchdowns in the league before Sunday's game.

Brandon Pettigrew Fantasy: Another Solid Performance From Lions TE

Consistent points from the tight end position are fantasy gold and right now Brandon Pettigrew looks to have the Midas Touch. It wasn't a spectacular performance, but 42 yards and a touchdown on eight catches will surely be much appreciated.

Pettigrew is averaging 55.8 yards per game with 279 total yards and one touchdown through his first five weeks of the 2011 NFL season. He caught his first touchdown catch last week against the Bears. And in Week 3 Pettigrew went over 100 yards receiving.

Pettigrew is a rising fantasy tight end, and was ranked by Yahoo! Sports as the 12th best TE option in Week 6.

Santana Moss Fantasy Update: Just Two Catches For Moss

It was a tough day to be a receiver for the Washington Redskins. Santana Moss finished this week's game against the Philadelphia Eagles with just two catches for 28 yards. Washington's passing game was mostly notable for Rex Grossman throwing four interceptions, a move that got him benched in favor of John Beck

Moss was averaging 62 receiving yards a game with 246 receiving yards on the season and two touchdowns through his first five games of the 2011 NFL season. Moss' receiving yards per game is down nearly 5 yards per game.

Moss was ranked by Yahoo! as the 23rd ranked wide receiver heading into Week 6 taking on the Philadelphia Eagles who rank 7th against the pass.

Fred Davis Fantasy Update: Davis Finished With 95 Yards

Fred Davis had a solid outing against the Eagles today, but it was hardly enough to help his team over come four Rex Grossman interceptions. Davis finished the game with six catches for 95 yards. It was Davis' biggest game of the season since he topped 100 yards in week one.

Davis was averaging 62 receiving yards a game with 248 receiving yards on the season and one touchdown through his first five games of the 2011 NFL season. Davis' receiving yards per game is down nearly 50 yards per game.

Eli Manning Fantasy: Quiet Day For Giants QB

After four straight weeks of tossing at least two touchdowns in every game, Eli Manning had a much more quiet fantasy performance on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. Manning threw for 292 yards, but didn't throw a touchdown in a Giants victory. He did avoid any interceptions, though.

In a weird way, it was a bounce back performance for Manning as the ugly version of Manning resurfaced somewhat last week against the Seattle Seahawks when he threw three interceptions among his three touchdowns. The two games prior he was stellar, however, approaching a 70 percent completion percentage for 575 totals yards and six touchdowns, with zero interceptions against the Arizona Cardinals and Philadelphia Eagles.

Manning came in eighth in Yahoo! Sports' fantasy rankings heading into Week 6, making him a low-end starter in a standard 10-team fantasy league. When he is at his best, Manning can be an elite option, however. Unfortunately, his occasional dud performance makes him a liability from time to time.

Jeremy Maclin Fantasy Update: Maclin Tops 100 Yards For The Second Time

Jeremy Maclin led the Philadelphia Eagles in receiving today in their win over the Washington Redskins. Maclin had five catches for 101 yards, including a 59-yard catch. He did not have a touchdown in this game. This was just Maclin's second game in which he topped 100 yards receiving.

Maclin was averaging 77 receiving yards a game with 388 receiving yards on the season and three touchdowns through his first five games of the 2011 NFL season. Maclin's receiving yards per game is up nearly 17 yards per game.

Maclin was ranked by Yahoo! as the 13th ranked wide receiver heading into Week 6 taking on the Washington Redskins who rank 8th against the pass.

DeSean Jackson Fantasy Update: Quiet Day For DeSean Jackson

Eagles quarterback Michael Vick found DeSean Jackson just three times today against Washington. Jackson had three catches for 46 yards and no touchdowns. His longest catch was a 23-yard grab. Philadelphia got most of their offensive production from running back LeSean McCoy, and Jeremy Maclin was Vick's top receiver for the day.

Jackson was averaging 82 receiving yards a game with 410 receiving yards on the season and two touchdowns through his first five games of the 2011 NFL season. Jackson's receiving yards per game is up nearly 17 yards per game.

Hakeem Nicks Fantasy: Giants WR Falls Just Shy Of 100 Yards

Hakeem Nicks turned in the kind of performance people in "bonus" leagues dread. His 96 yards on four catches were certainly nice, but plenty of owners will be thinking "not nice enough." That Nicks failed to get into the endzone, although he did come tantalizingly close when he was pushed out of bounds at the 5-yard line at the end of a 60-yard catch.

Nicks was averaging 82 receiving yards a game with 412 receiving yards on the season and three touchdowns through his first five weeks of the 2011 NFL season. Nicks' receiving yards per game is nearly identical to last seasons'.

Nicks was ranked by Yahoo! as the 4th ranked wide receiver heading into Week 6 taking on the Buffalo Bills who rank 26th against the pass.

Delone Carter Fantasy Update: Carter Underwhelms In Relief Of Addai

Delone Carter led the Indianapolis Cots in rushing today, working in relief of the injured Joseph Addai. Carter finished the game with just 45 yards on 14 carries. Donald Brown had five carries for 35 yards and a touchdown.

Carter had not been much of a fantasy option entering Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals, but Joseph Addai's injury provided extra opportunities for him. With the Colts in poor condition, the rushing game has suffered the effects. Carter entered the game with 125 yards and one touchdown on 41 carries. He did have a career high 12 carries against the Chiefs, but he managed just 22 yards.

Carter barely made Yahoo!'s top 30 running backs this week, coming in at No. 27. However, his partner, Donald Brown, barely made the list at No. 39.

Reggie Wayne Fantasy Update: Wayne Leads Colts' Receivers

Reggie Wayne led the Indianapolis Colts in receiving today, but it was mostly just a technicality. Wayne had five catches for 58 yards and no touchdowns with Curtis Painter leading the offense. Wayne has been the subject of trade rumors this week, as the Colts are still without a win and Peyton Manning

Wayne was averaging 66 receiving yards a game with 332 receiving yards on the season and one touchdown through his first five games of the 2011 NFL season. Wayne's yards per game is down nearly 20 yards per game from last season.

Wayne was ranked by Yahoo! as the 27th ranked wide receiver heading into Week 6 taking on the Cincinnati Bengals who rank 3rd against the pass.

Ryan Fitzpatrick Fantasy: Bills Quarterback Tosses 2 TDs

Ryan Fitzpatrick may not be considered fantasy chalk at this point, but the Buffalo Bills quarterback just keeps turning in solid performances. He had another on on Sunday, throwing two touchdowns and 244 yards in a losing effort.

After a hot start to the season, Fitzpatrick's fantasy numbers hit the brakes leading up to Week 6. Through the season's first three games he averaged just over 280 yards per outing, accumulating nine touchdowns. Fitzpatrick failed to reach 200 yards in weeks 4 or 5, with just one touchdown total during the span.

Fitzpatrick's stock has slipped as a result. He came in 9th in Yahoo! Sports' latest fantasy rankings, placing him firmly on the starter/bench border, depending on the matchup. What looked like one of the great sleeper pickups of the year early on has seemingly dropped back to join the means.

Dallas Clark Fantasy Update: Clark Scores Second Touchdown Of The Season

Dallas Clark may certainly miss Peyton Manning this season, but he did manage to have one highlight worthy moment today. Quarterback Curtis Painter found Clark for a one-yard fourth quarter touchdown against the Bengals today. Clark caught six balls for 53 yards today.

Quarterback Peyton Manning's absence has hurt everyone on or around the Indianapolis Colts, who enter Sunday's game with an 0-5 record, but few receiving targets have been hurt more than tight end Dallas Clark. A fantasy disappointment during his injury-plagued 2010 season, Clark is healthy in 2011, but has just 14 receptions for 136 yards and a touchdown and has also struggled with dropped passes this season.

Clark is the 19th-ranked tight end on Yahoo! Sports for Week 6 and is facing a Cincinnati Bengals defense that ranks first in total defense and is third against the pass.

Curtis Painter Fantasy Update: Painter Hits Dallas Clark For His Lone Score Of The Day

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Curtis Painter completed 23 of 34 passes for 188 yards in a 17-27 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals today. Painter connected with tight end Dallas Clark for his only touchdown of the game, and he also threw an interception.

Painter was averaging 206 passing yards a game with 618 passing yards on the season and four touchdowns with zero interception through his first three games of the 2011 NFL season. Painter's passing numbers have been surprising in his first two starts, both of which had long touchdown passes.

Painter was ranked by Yahoo! as the twenty fourth quarterback heading into Week 6 with the taking on the Cincinnati Bengals who rank 3rd against the pass.

Jonathan Stewart Fantasy Update: Stewart Finds The End Zone

Jonathan Stewart is probably the Panthers' best running back, but the contract given to DeAngelo Williams makes him second fiddle. He out performed Williams today, but was indeed second fiddle in rushing statistics to QB Cam Newton. Stewart finished the game against the Falcons with seven carries, 48 yards and a touchdown. He also cuaght three passes for 24 yards.

Stewart's had a tough time getting enough action, but he's still be able to impact fantasy games. Entering Sunday's game against the Falcons, Stewart had just 162 yards on the ground, but he made up for that with 186 receiving yards. He's combined the two games and helped fantasy owners. However, playing with DeAngelo Williams has not been good for him.

Stewart entered this week as the No. 29 running back, according to Yahoo!'s fantasy rankings. That was just three spots behind starter DeAngelo Williams.

Steve Smith Fantasy Update: Five Catches, No Touchdowns For Smith

Smith was averaging 121 receiving yards a game with 609 receiving yards on the season and three touchdowns through his first five games of the 2011 NFL season. Smith's receiving yards per game is up nearly 100 yards per game.

Rashard Mendenhall Fantasy Stats: RB Carries Load For Steelers

Rashard Mendenhall carried the Steelers offense, which only needed 17 points to beat the Jaguars on Sunday. The Steelers running back racked up 146 rushing yards and a touchdown against Jacksonville. In a low-scoring game, that's a pretty good fantasy output.

Mendenhall returned to the starting lineup against the Jaguars after missing the previous week's game against the Tennessee Titans with a hamstring injury. However, this matchup could have been a tough one for Mendenhall since the Jaguars had the 10th best rush defense in the league, allowing just 101 yards per game.

Mendenhall checked in as the 23rd best running back this week, according to Yahoo!'s fantasy rankings. However, he is owned in 98 percent of leagues, which made him a valuable starter.

Roddy White Fantasy Update: Just Two Catches For White

It was a quiet day for Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White. He had just two catches for 21 yards and no touchdowns in Atlanta's win over the Carolina Panthers. It was White's worst outing of the season. Atlanta put most of the load on running back Michael Turner

White was averaging 70 receiving yards a game with 352 receiving yards on the season and two touchdowns through his first five games of the 2011 NFL season. White's receiving yards per game is down nearly 15 yards per game.

Ben Roethlisberger Fantasy Stats: TD And 200 Yards For Steelers QB

Ben Roethlisberger is still suffering behind a below-average offensive line (he was sacked three times Sunday), but he managed a decent fantasy football effort with 200 passing yards and a touchdown against the Jaguars.

Roethlisberger struggled to find any kind of consistency prior to Week 5. Then, in an outburst against the Tennessee Titans, he completed 70 percent of his passes and found the end zone five times compared to just one interception. Still, even with the stat-padding Roethlisberger's numbers are still relatively disappointing this season. Prior to last week's win, Roethlisberger had just three touchdown passes to five interceptions.

According to Yahoo! Sports, Roethlisberger would probably be a borderline starter in most leagues, coming in 10th in their fantasy rankings. How much stock you put in one great outing compared to the four prior mediocre performances is up to you.

Tony Gonzalez Fantasy Update: Three Catches For Gonzalez

With just two minutes left in their game against the Carolina Panthers, tight end Tony Gonzalez has just three catches for 29 yards for the Atlanta Falcons today. Gonzalez did lead all Atlanta receivers with three receptions, however. This was his second-lowest yardage total of the season as Atlanta mostly leaned on running back Michael Turner.

Outside of his game against the Buccaneers, Tony Gonzalez has been a consummate fantasy performer this season. Entering Sunday's game, Gonzalez had 27 receptions for 289 yards and four touchdowns. His best overall performance came against the Eagles with seven receptions for 83 yards and two touchdowns.

Before Sunday's game against the Panthers, Gonzalez was ranked as the No. 6 tight end in Yahoo!'s Week 6 NFL projections.

Ahmad Bradshaw Fantasy: Giants Running Back Having Big Scoring Day

Ahmad Bradshaw has gotten off to a slow start in 2011, but the New York Giants running back is at least finding the endzone on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. Bradshaw has already scored three touchdowns, more than he had all season up to that point. The touchdowns have all been 1-yard runs, leading the way for his first 100-yard game of the season. Although he only got six second-half carries, he ended up rushing for 104 yards.

Bradshaw came into the game as one of the more disappointing running backs this season. He had scored just two touchdowns and had 286 yards rushing coming into this game.

Hand it to Fake Teams, though, as they predicted a breakout week for Bradshaw. They saw that Brandon Jacobs was likely to be out for the game and that Bradshaw would see the bulk of the carries, something that has paid particular dividends in short-yardage situations.

Alex Smith Fantasy: 49ers Quarterback Off To Slow Start

Hardly the first name in fantasy quarterbacks, Alex Smith has been more than useful this season. He averages 193 passing yards per game in Jim Harbaugh's ball control offense. Through five games, Smith has 965 passing yards seven touchdowns and just one interception. Those are much better totals than any of his five previous seasons, which is why he's been so easy to overlook.

Through the first half of Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions, you're probably hoping you overlooked him anyway. Smith has just 77 yards passing and five rushing yards, although the 49ers do lead 12-10.

Fake Teams had Smith as their 23rd ranked quarterback this week against a Detroit Lions defense that has been a big part of that team's 5-0 start to the season.

Jordy Nelson Fantasy Update: Nelson Racks Up Points With 93-Yard TD

Nelson was averaging 62 receiving yards a game with 309 receiving yards on the season and three touchdowns through his first five games of the 2011 NFL season. Nelson's receiving yards per game is up nearly 25 yards per game.

Jennings was averaging 90 receiving yards a game with 448 receiving yards on the season and four touchdowns through his first five games of the 2011 NFL season. Jennings' receiving yards per game is up nearly 10 yards per game.

Sam Bradford Fantasy Update: Modest Stats So Far For Rams QB

Sam Bradford threw for 167 yards in the first half vs. the Packers, but fantasy football owners would like him to find the end zone. The Rams have not scored a touchdown as Green Bay has been dominating. Making matters worse, Aaron Rodgers is putting up ridiculous fantasy stats opposite Bradford.

Bradford was averaging 212 passing yards a game with 849 passing yards on the season and three touchdowns with one interception through the first five games of the 2011 NFL season. Bradford's passing yards per game is down by almost 7 yards per game in Josh McDaniels system.

Michael Vick Fantasy Update: Vick Finds Success Through The Air

Michael Vick has helped the Philadelphia Eagles get a rare lead through the first half. Against Washington, Vick has passed for 141 yards and a touchdown, completing 12 of 20 passes so far. Vick has rushed twice for 25 yards through two quarters against Washington.

For the season, Vick has thrown for 1,336 yards and eight touchdowns. But it's his inconsistency, and his seven interceptions, that have left many wondering which Vick will show up any given week. And though he's picked up 318 yards on the ground, he'd yet to score a rushing touchdown heading into Sunday's matchup with the Redskins.

When healthy, Vick can be as dynamic as they come against any defense, using his mobility and arm strength to create matchup problems. Vick came into the week ranked as the fifth-best quarterback fantasy play by Yahoo!.

Andy Dalton Fantasy Update: Dalton On His Way To Huge Day

Andy Dalton connected with A.J. Green for a touchdown in the first quarter against Indianapolis. Dalton has 179 yards passing is 17 for 21 through the first half.

Dalton has been a pleasant surprise for fantasy owners who drafted him, or more likely added him off the waiver wire, as a backup, averaging 209.4 yards per game entering Week 6 play. His chemistry has been outstanding with fellow rookie wideout A.J. Green and tight end Jermaine Gresham, as the two have combined to catch every one of Dalton's six touchdown passes.

Dalton had a favorable matchup against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, and he was ranked the 13th-best QB play by Yahoo! Sports. The Colts' D had given up the third-most total points in the NFL entering Week 6.

Aaron Rodgers Fantasy Stats: Packers QB Dominating Vs. Rams

So far Sunday, Aaron Rodgers has put up stats that should make his fantasy football owners weep with joy. Rodgers threw for 234 yards and three touchdowns in the first half against the Rams, including a 93-yard touchdown strike to Jordy Nelson.

However you want to measure it, Aaron Rodgers is having a monster season. He has produced the league's top passer rating, is atop the year's Total Quarterback Rating. According to the experts at Yahoo! Sports, Rodgers is the No. 1 fantasy football quarterback available. But we could be looking at the start of his best game so far this season.

That's understandable considering Rodgers came into Week 6 with 1,721 passing yards, 14 passing TDs and only 2 interceptions. Two rushing touchdowns are nice bonus.

Rodgers has the NFL's top completion percentage (71.7) and is tied for the best average yards per attempt (9.6), which is pretty amazing when you put those two together.

Cam Newton Fantasy Update: Quiet First Half For Newton

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton has 126 yards passing through the first half against Atlanta. Newton is 11 for 17 with one interception.

What does Cam Newton have that Tom Brady, Calvin Johnson, and Adrian Peterson don't? More fantasy points by most standard scoring systems.

In fact, of the entire NFL, only Aaron Rodgers currently ranks higher than the Panthers rookie sensation. Through the first five weeks of the season, Newton was a revelation for Carolina. He has passed for 1,610 yards and 7 touchdowns, while tacking up an additional 5 trips to the end zone on the ground.

Even when he doesn't put up 300+ yards, Newton provides rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. A rushing quarterback has a considerable amount of value given how much easier it is to accumulate points for rushing. It makes him an absolute fantasy force.

Ryan entered Week 6 averaging 260.4 passing yards per game with 1302 total yards and seven touchdowns through his first five weeks of the 2011 NFL season. Last week Ryan struggled with just one touchdown and two picks against Green Bay.

Ryan is a sturdy fantasy quarterback with plenty of offensive weapons around him. He was ranked by Yahoo! Sports as the 11th best fantasy quarterback for Week 6, matched up with a league-average Panthers pass defense.
