Chris Cooley is officially listed as questionable this week, but the tight end left no doubt that he'd play on Sunday. In fact, he was annoyed that Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan revealed to the media that his surgically-repaired left knee was drained earlier in the week, because he's tired of answering questions about his status.
As he told the Washington Times, "everyone thinks it's drained, that's a huge deal," he said. "No, that's not a big deal. Guys get things drained all the time."
He later added, "It's not changing the way I play. It's not all of a sudden worse because [it was drained]. I'm fine. It's something that I'm managing and it's something that I deal with every day. I'm able to practice every day. I'm a firm believer in practice making you better, so I get myself ready to practice and play every day."
Even if he's playing, Cooley is not the fantasy option he used to be, ceding much of his pass-catching responsibilities to Fred Davis while spending more time blocking, and even filling in at fullback.
