Peyton Hillis Status Update: Browns RB Out Against Seahawks

Stay connected with SB Nation

Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis' strained left hamstring has him out for Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks, according to NFL Network's Jason La Canfora's Twitter feed.

Not too many injury questions with the early games today, but I can report Browns RB Peyton Hillis will not play against Seattle

Hillis did not practice during the week and was expected to be a game-time decision on Sunday, with 2010 second-round pick Montario Hardesty now the likely starter.

After spending his rookie season on injured reserve, Hardesty has 40 carries for 143 yards with 10 receptions for 86 yards out of the backfield this season. Hardesty started in Week 3 against the Miami Dolphins when Hillis did not play due to illness, rushing for 14 carries for 67 yards in the 17-16 win, and he had seven carries for 22 yards in a starting role in a 31-13 loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 4.

Earlier this week, the Browns signed running back Chris Ogbonnaya off the Houston Texans' practice squad to be the No. 3 back behind Hillis and Hardesty.
