The Oakland Raiders suffered a surprising 28-0 upset at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday, but the loss cost them more than just a victory. Star running back Darren McFadden left the game early in the first quarter with what for now is a sprained foot. The Raiders head into a bye week so we may not get word on just how severe the injury is for a few days. His foot was heavily taped when he returned to the sideline and he never made his way back onto the field.
The Raiders got a strong performance from Michael Bush and Taiwan Jones in relief of Darren McFadden. Bush rushed 17 times for 99 yards and Jones added three rushes for 18 yards. If McFadden were forced to miss any game action, Bush would get the bulk of the load, with Jones acting as a modest change of pace back. Jones has shown some explosive speed, but the Raiders get a great deal of power and athleticism from Bush.
For McFadden owners, the Raiders could release some information in the next couple days, but the odds are high that we don't hear any hard confirmation until early next week when the team has to provide an injury report for week nine. In the meantime, if Michael Bush is on the waiver wire, he remains a strong handcuff for McFadden even if Run DMC is able to go in two weeks.
