Matthew Stafford Injury Update: Lions QB Injures Right Leg At End Of Loss

Stay connected with SB Nation

Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford had a tough day on Sunday as his Lions lost to the Atlanta Falcons 23-16. Although Stafford finished with 183 yards and a touchdown, he ended the game on a down note as he suffered an injury to his right leg on the Lions final offensive series of the game.

Stafford will undergo an MRI on his right leg to determine if he suffered any knee or ankle damage on the hit. Stafford limped off the field after the play. While he might be fairly limited in practice this week, barring something unexpected, Stafford will likely be back on the field for the Lions matchup at the Denver Broncos next week. They follow that up with their bye week, which will give him some time to rest up the injuries.

Although the Lions are in the midst of a two-game slide, Stafford remains a solid fantasy option thanks to Calvin Johnson and Brandon Pettigrew. Losing Jahvid Best hurts that offense, but Stafford still has some great receiving weapons.
