Drew Brees Fantasy Recap: Saints QB Leads Decimation Of Indianapolis Colts

Stay connected with SB Nation

There were several potential fantasy football MVPs on Sunday afternoon and Sunday evening. Among quarterbacks, most folks will likely agree that Drew Brees is deserving of any sort of fantasy MVP honor. Brees led the New Orleans Saints to a 62-7 decimation of the Indianapolis Colts, completing 31 of 35 passes for 325 yards and five touchdowns. He could have kept on going but the Saints finally pulled him and had Chase Daniel hand off the ball for the rest of the game.

Brees is off to a great start on the season as he has thrown for 2,152 yards and 13 touchdowns. Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and Cam Newton often get more of the media attention, but Brees consistently puts together solid performances week in and week out. I would not go so far as to say he is underrated, but it is possible he is occasionally under-appreciated. I myself have Drew Brees on a fantasy roster for the first time ever and I am thoroughly enjoying the experience.

Drew Brees should continue to find success as he has some potentially enticing matchups on the horizon. He and the Saints travel to face the St. Louis Rams next week. They follow that up with a home game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and then on the road against the Atlanta Falcons. The Bucs and Falcons are inconsistent teams that could provide Drew Brees with some decent opportunities heading into New Orleans' Week 11 bye.
