Fantasy Football Week 8 Waiver Wire: The Return Of Plaxico

In our earlier advice post for the Week 8 waiver wire, we referenced a list of 200 players and their potential value for the rest of the season. It makes a nice reference chart for waiver wire decision-making. Now, we'll narrow it down a little. Our partner, numberfire.com, looks at how players are performing recently against the regular projected averages to identify mid-level guys who could be on the way to having consistent fantasy value. The higher the percentage above average, the hotter they are, and likely to be hot on the waiver wire.

If your lucky enough to be in a league where players like Monatrio Hardesty, DeMarco Murray or Ryan Torain are still available, you need to make your move. All three backs have clear value for the rest of the year.

Looking further down to top adds, a couple of players on a Week 8 bye should still be of interest. If you're just fine-tuning and don't need help right away, check in and see if Plaxico Burress had been dropped in your league. After Sunday's three touchdown performance, Burress may be on a second-half-of-the-season run. And newcomer to the fantasy world, Dezmon Briscoe in Tampa Bay, is a possibility for future success.

Then there's the other side of the ledger. Tracking guys who are under-performing and could be considered as a drop, or a trade if you can sucker someone. If you do nothing else, you must consider the bench for some of these guys.

Of course, Tim Hightower is a drop as he's done for the year. Sam Bradford is nursing a sore ankle and didn't play last week, and his status is unclear for the future. It wasn't like he was tearing it up before the injury, anyway. DeAngelo Williams' value is diminishing as Jonathan Stewart heats up. Maybe his name can draw trade interest from running back starved owners. Reggie Bush and Ryan Grant are also falling in value.
