Week 8 NFL Injury Report, Wednesday: Adrian Peterson, Willis McGahee, Beanie Wells Sit Out Practice

We break down the Wednesday practice participation report for week 8 of the 2011 NFL season. For more on fantasy football, check out Fake Teams.

NFL teams released their first injury reports on Wednesday as teams get ready for their Sunday week eight matchups. Monday Night Football teams will release their practice participation reports on Thursday. Teams generally have formal practices Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and release practice participation and injury reports at the end of each session. Monday Night Football teams are a day later. For the participation reports, players are listed as Out (Definitely Will Not Play), Did Not Participate In Practice, Limited Participation in Practice, Full Participant In Practice.

This week's injury reports lists some notable names, the most prominent being Vikings running back Adrian Peterson. The man they call Purple Jesus injured his foot in Sunday's loss to the Packers and was seen limping towards the end of the game. More than likely he is simply getting some rest so he can be close to 100% for Sunday. He will likely not be a full participant in practice this week, but that should not square you away. We'll have some additional AP updates throughout the week.

This week's list includes a variety of other name running backs including Mark Ingram, Daniel Thomas, Willis McGahee. The longest absence could be McGahee who fractured a bone in his hand and is unable to play sufficiently with only one hand. He could reportedly miss two to four weeks with the injury. This means Knowshon Moreno is back in the mix as a fantasy back. He's not a great option, but he is an option.
