It was another week of quality game management for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith. He completed 15 of 24 passes for 177 yards and one touchdown as the 49ers collected their sixth win of the season.
Smith has come around this season for an upstart 49ers squad. Even factoring in a 'meh' performance against the Detroit Lions in Week 6, he is still averaging a decent 6.9 yards per pass attempt with an 8-to-2 touchdown-to-interception ratio.
His numbers aren't eye-popping, however. While Smith's consistent play has been a significant improvement over years past, that doesn't mean he's a weekly fantasy starter. Yahoo! Sports pegged Smith as the 22nd best quarterback in a week with an inordinate number of players on byes, making him a bench player even in two-quarterback leagues.
