This week was not a great one for Wes Welker. The New England Patriots receiver has been a fantasy owners' delight this season with his fantastic statistics, but the Pittsburgh Steelers were able to keep him in check on Sunday. He managed just six catches for 39 yards and did not score a touchdown.
Last week, Welker had the week off. Without a doubt, he and his teammates appreciated the chance to rest after a hot start in which the Patriots offense looks as potent as it ever has. Coming into this game, Welker led the NFL with 51 receptions. He had the second most receiving yards with 785, and only Detroit's Calvin Johnson had scored more than Welker's six receiving touchdowns.
Welker has been Tom Brady's go-to guy this season. Against Buffalo in Week 3, Welker became the only receiver this season to top 200 yards receiving in a single game.
Fake Teams, SB Nation's fantasy site, ranked Welker as their third best receiver for week 8.
