The Carolina Panthers have struggled to string wins together, but they remain one of the most entertaining teams week in and week out due primarily to Cam Newton. While Newton has been making plays, wide receiver Steve Smith has stepped into the rejuvenation machine and knocked the clock back a few years. Smith continued his resurgent 2011 campaign with 100 receiving yards, a touchdown and 12 rushing yards.
It is easy to forget how awful the quarterbacks really were in recent years for Steve Smith. When Jimmy Clausen, Matt Moore and Jake Delhomme are high on that list, it is not a pretty sight. Some thought Smith had lost a step or two, but Cam Newton has brought it all back. Whether Smith never lost a step, or has simply found a renewed energy with Cam Newton, Smith has skyrocketed back into top five receiver status.
The Panthers have a bye this week and then host the Tennessee Titans in week ten. The Titans have been incredibly inconsistent this season and have struggled a bit against the pass. This could prove to be a particularly juice fantasy matchup for Steve Smith, Cam Newton and the Panthers.
