New York Giants wide receiver bounced back from a subpar pre-bye performance and helped the Giants to victory with 99 receiving yards and a touchdown. Cruz has exploded on the scene in his second season, putting together four performances of 9.8 fantasy points or higher. His latest effort would have been good for 15.9 points in most leagues.
Victor Cruz broke out in week three as he hauled in three catches for 110 yards and two touchdowns. He and Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith were two of the hottest waiver wire pickups for that week. Since then, Cruz has put together a string of solid performances, with one stinker mixed in. Week six against the Buffalo Bills he was held to two catches for 12 yards and there was some criticism from the coaching staff. However, he bounced back big against the Dolphins.
The Giants travel to face the New England Patriots next week in what could be their best passing matchup of the season. The Patriots secondary is abysmal and this should bode well for Cruz and the rest of the Giants receivers. Wide receiver Hakeem Nicks is having a hamstring injury checked out and if he has to sit, it could benefit Cruz and Mario Manningham with more targets. Cruz will be a strong start against the Patriots in week nine.
