San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates is expected to miss the game against the Denver Broncos, opting to sit out and rest his foot again. At this point there is concern that Gates may not play for the season and at some point could go on injured reserve. The Chargers however plan to give Gates as much time as he needs to try and get healthy enough to play before possibly putting him on injured reserve.
At this point it's unknown when Gates will play, but he is expected to try and resume practice after the Chargers bye week next week. Gates has been running on a treadmill with no setbacks, so it looks like the plan is still in motion. Without Gates, the Chargers passing attack and offense has been up and down. He's clearly a missing cog in their offense.
