The San Diego Chargers running back situation remains a fantasy football mess as players are coming and going with injuries. A day after Mike Tolbert sat out Monday Night Football, Jason LaCanfora reported that he would be back on the field this Sunday against the Packers getting a lot of carries. Ryan Mathews suffered a groin injury on Monday that forced him from the game. We do not yet have an update on his status, but that would play a big part in determining what kind of play Tolbert would get this Sunday against the Packers.
The x-factor in all this is third string back Curtis Brinkley. He came on in place of Mathews Monday night and put together a strong performance. While a healthy Tolbert would get the start if Mathews couldn't play, it is hard to tell how Brinkley would fit into the picture. Tolbert would be the start, but don't expect big things from him. Add in the Chargers potentially playing from behind against the Packers and it could be a tough day for Chargers running backs.
