Hakeem Nicks Injury Update: Giants WR Limited On Thursday

Stay connected with SB Nation

The New York Giants continue their measured timeline for bringing back wide receiver Hakeem Nicks as they slowly increase his practice workload. Nicks sat out Wednesday practice but was upgraded to limited participation on Thursday. Limited participation can vary, but often it means a player takes part in individual drills but sits out the team portion of the workout.

The key now for Nicks is to see if he gets upgraded to full participation on Friday. If he is limited for a second straight day, it would be tough to see him play. At worst he is likely a game-time decision against the 49ers. It is a 4:15pm ET start in San Francisco so you need to make sure you can adjust accordingly. Last week, the Giants declared him out early enough for appropriate lineup adjustments. This week might not be so smooth.

If Nicks is playing he is worth starting against a secondary that has been solid but made enough mistakes to justify starting receivers against them (unlike their rush defense against running backs). If Nicks sits, Victor Cruz is likely the biggest beneficiary.
