The Arizona Cardinals went into Philadelphia on Sunday and stunned the Eagles thanks in large part to a strong fantasy-level performance from QB John Skelton. He threw a pair of picks that threatened to derail the entire day, but he stepped up when needed and put together a fine performance. I highly doubt anybody was starting him, but if you were, you benefitted. Skelton finished the game with 315 passing yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. Not a superstar performance, but quite solid.
The strong performance of Skelton coupled with two straight wins for the Arizona Cardinals could give the team a sufficient excuse to continue biding their time in returning Kevin Kolb to the field. Kolb is "the guy" in Arizona, but given that this has become a bit of a lost season to some extent, they are likely in no rush to get him back. If Skelton can continue playing well, he might buy himself one or two more starts.
Arizona travels to San Francisco to face the 49ers in week 11. The 49ers are on fire right now, but their secondary does leave itself open to some big passing numbers on occasion. It is usually the better QBs in the league who put up solid numbers, but you never know with John Skelton. The 49ers and Cardinals have played some great games in recent years, so anything is possible.
