Wednesday means NFL teams released their first injury reports for week nine of the 2011 NFL season. Today's reports include all the Sunday games, while the Monday Night Football teams (Bears vs. Eagles) will submit their first practice participation reports on Thursday. Teams generally have formal practices Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and release practice participation and injury reports at the end of each session. For the participation reports, players are listed as Out (Definitely Will Not Play), Did Not Participate In Practice, Limited Participation in Practice, Full Participant In Practice.

This week's injury reports list a few notable names. Willis McGahee returned to practice in limited fashion as he returns from a hand fracture. His return does not necessarily mean he will play this weekend, but it will give Knowshon Moreno owners a bit of pause. We will get a better idea of things as the week moves along.

The Patriots are also dealing with some backfield issues as both Kevin Faulk and BenJarvus Green-Ellis were limited on Wednesday. Stevan Ridley had seemingly worked his way completely out of the backfield rotation, but injuries could change that. Green-Ellis has been dealing with a toe injury the last couple weeks while Faulk continues his return from ACL surgery.

Speaking of the Patriots, Wes Welker was a surprise addition to the practice participation report as he is dealing with a neck issue and did not participate in practice. We'll keep a close eye on him Thursday and Friday as new reports become available.
