Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson was placed on injured reserve early last week with a broken fibula he sustained in last week's 35-8 loss to the Miami Dolphins.
Jackson ranks third in the NFL with 934 rushing yards is tied for seventh with six rushing touchdowns. Combined with his 442 receiving yards, which are second behind Stevie Johnson on the Bills, Jackson has 1,376 yards from scrimmage this season, which ranks fourth in the league.
2010 first-round pick C.J. Spiller is expected to replace Jackson in the starting lineup. Spiller has 115 yards and one touchdown on the ground and has not had more than five carries in a game this season. 2011 fifth-round pick Johnny White, who has just two carries for six yards since the season-opener, is also expected to be more involved in the offense. The Bills also claimed running back Tashard Choice off waivers from the Washington Redskins. Choice played for Bills head coach Chan Gailey at Georgia Tech.
