The Minnesota Vikings, reeling from star running back Adrian Peterson's ankle injury, got some good news before Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons, as the team has announced wide receiver Percy Harvin is active and will play.
Harvin has been dealing with bruised ribs for weeks, but he's played through them. He was given a season-high five carries last week when Peterson couldn't finish the game, and he's routinely given looks from the backfield. Though Toby Gerhart will receive the start at running back, it's expected Harvin will see an expanded role in the offense, which is good news for fantasy owners and fans of speed in general.
Though ineffective in the beginning of the season, Harvin's production has increased from week to week, especially since Christian Ponder has taken over the role of starting quarterback. He's had six receptions in back to back weeks and primed for perhaps the biggest week of his season against the Falcons.
