With Adrian Peterson out for the foreseeable future, the Christian Ponder's chances to put up bigger fantasy numbers have surely improved. Unfortunately for his owners, there was little sign of that on Sunday in the Minnesota Vikings' loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
Ponder was 17 of 25 for just 186 yards and a touchdown. He didn't throw an interception, but also didn't do anything remotely spectacular.
The rookie took over the starting job in week 7, making his starting debut against the Green Bay Packers. This week against the Falcons he had to shoulder even more of the burden of a talent-deprived Vikings offense.
In five games played, Ponder has completed 75 of 144 passing attempts for 955 yards. He has five touchdown passes and six interceptions, stats not out of line with expectations of a rookie quarterback. Fake Teams has Ponder ranked at number 19 on the week 12 quarterback rankings.
