Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow was part of another crazy fourth quarter/OT comeback victory as his Broncos knocked off the San Diego Chargers 16-13 on a Matt Prater field goal in overtime. Tebow did not have a particularly good passing line, completing 9 of 18 passes for 143 yards and a touchdown. However, he put together another solid fantasy performance thanks to rushing for 67 yards and not turning the ball over.
Tim Tebow has quietly become one of the better fantasy quarterbacks out there. He will not put up 300+ yards or throw for three our four touchdowns, but his ability to gain yards on the ground is a huge difference-maker. Add in the additional two points on rushing touchdowns (for 4-pt QB TD leagues), and he is able to get value where most quarterbacks cannot.
Tebow and the Broncos travel to Minnesota next week to face the Vikings. For most fantasy athletes we would look at how a given team performs against the pass or the rush. For Tebow, it is hard to assess. A great passing defense won't really matter since he is more of a rushing QB. A great rushing defense is not guaranteed success since he is not a traditional running back rusher. For now, you just have to accept that he is a quality fantasy quarterback without being a traditional fantasy quarterback.
