New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks did not participate in Wednesday's practice as the Giants begin preparations for Sunday's game against the 49ers. Nicks has been dealing with a hamstring injury that sidelined him for last Sunday's game against the Patriots. Previously Nicks acknowledged that it would take some time to get over the injury and it remains to be seen if he will be good to go this Sunday.
There had previously been indications that Nicks would practice on Wednesday, but his lack of practice indicates some kind of setback in preparing for practice. Nicks has two more days to get practice time in if he is going to play on Sunday. We will have a full breakdown of practice participation reports tomorrow and Friday, which will give us a better idea of Nicks' status heading into the weekend.
If Hakeem Nicks is unable to play on Sunday, Victor Cruz and Mario Manningham remain the two wide receiver options, with Jake Ballard as a solid tight end option. The Giants are facing a 49ers defense that has been strong overall, but has had its issues in the secondary. Between Cruz and Manningham, Victor Cruz remains the solid start this weekend.
