The Minnesota Vikings were the latest team to succumb to a wild Tim Tebow/Denver Broncos comeback, but they put together some impressive numbers nonetheless. Percy Harvin was a major star of the game as he finished the day with 156 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The Vikings have cut back Harvin's return duties but he is showing an ability to pick it up in the passing game.
One area he did not get as much production in as some hoped was as a change of pace running back. When Adrian Peterson sprained his ankle, Toby Gerhart took over as the starting running back. When Gerhart has made spot starts in the past, Harvin has served as his backup. Against the Broncos, Harvin rushed five times for 19 yards to go along with his big receiving day.
There remains tremendous upside with Harvin in part because of his work in the rushing game. He did not put up big numbers against Denver, but the more touches he gets on offense, the better for fantasy owners. If he continues in this role, he is very likely to break a big run one of these days. He is a very solid start for the foreseeable future.
