The Minnesota Vikings surprised many folks this past April with their first round selection of QB Christian Ponder. They surprised others when they decided to jettison veteran QB Donovan McNabb and turn the keys over to Ponder. Although the Vikings are 1-5 in Ponder's six starts thus far, he is at least making things interesting for the team. He put together one of his best fantasy lines of the season on Sunday with 381 passing yards and three touchdowns. He struggled with decision-making and threw two picks, but for fantasy purposes, it was a strong showing.
Ponder is not at a Cam Newton point where he is a great fantasy start week in and week out. In realty, if you are starting him at quarterback, you probably are not going to be winning your league this season. Nonetheless, Ponder is worth keeping an eye on (I couldn't go with "pondering") as we move towards the 2012 NFL season. If the Vikings can get him some more weapons, he could become a consistent fantasy option.
