The Washington Redskins struggled to a 34-19 loss to the New York Jets, but they are seeing their running back position get further solidified. Roy Helu rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown while also hauling in four receptions for 42 yards. He lost a fumble, but otherwise had his second consecutive strong start, netting his second consecutive 100-yard rushing effort.
Helu bounced around the roster for much of the first two months before getting his most extensive action week nine against the 49ers. Helu did not get big rushing numbers, but he set the franchise record for receptions in a game. Over the next two games he got some work but not a starting load. However, in week 12 against the Seahawks he finally took over the starting role and ran with it.
Washington hosts the New England Patriots in week 14 in a tough matchup for getting some rushing value. The Redskins will need to run to control the clock and keep the Patriots offense off the field. However, it could also turn into a shootout. The good news is that Helu has shown skills as a receiver out of the backfield, so he could be fine for fantasy value whatever the final outcome of the game.
