Arian Foster Injury Update: Texans Running Back Expects To Play Sunday

Stay connected with SB Nation

Houston Texans running back Arian Foster returned to practice on Wednesday and more importantly, handled his normal practice workload without any setbacks. After practice, Foster indicated he expected to play this Sunday against the Houston Texans.

If Foster is active on Sunday he will likely get a sufficiently full load of carries, particularly with backup Derrick Ward not practicing due to ankle and shoulder ailments. Ward had said after Sunday's game that he left the game as a precaution but missing a Wednesday practice would indicate the injuries are a little bit more serious.

We'll have Foster updates through the weekend as his participation in practice over the next two days will be worth watching. Foster didn't have a setback today but you'll want to see how he reacts tomorrow to back-to-back practices. If all's well, odds will be high that he will start on Sunday. If you have Ben Tate right now (and not Foster), you'll still want to hold onto him. He's not a guy you'd start if Foster is healthy, but he's worth hanging onto in case this hamstring injury creeps back up.
