Santonio Holmes Injury Update: Holmes Active, Will Play Sunday

Stay connected with SB Nation

New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes is active and expected to play Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Holmes, listed as questionable with knee and quadriceps injuries, will indeed suit up Sunday after pulling his quad while running in practice Thursday. Jets head coach Rex Ryan was non-committal about his status Friday.

Holmes had six catches for 70 yards in the Jets' come-from-behind 27-24 victory over the Dallas Cowboys last week. Despite not being at 100 percent, Rotoworld believes starting Holmes would be a safe bet for fantasy owners:

Holmes may not be 100%, but his matchup versus Jacksonville is too good to pass up for fantasy leaguers. He comes in as our No. 14 ranked receiver for Week 2.

Yet, there are several inactives for the Jets, including quarterback Kevin O'Connell, wide receiver Logan Payne, safety Emanuel Cook, running back Bilal Powell, guard Caleb Schlauderaff, offensive lineman Rob Turner and defensive tackle Kenrick Ellis.
