The Philadelphia Eagles 35-31 defeat to the Atlanta Falcons came with further bad news as Michael Vick suffered a concussion in the third quarter. Initially described as a neck injury, news of a concussion complicates his return. With a neck injury, basic medical clearance gets him back on the field fairly easily. With a concussion, Vick will be required to pass a battery of tests to ensure he is over the symptoms.
If Vick is unable to go next week for the Eagles, either Mike Kafka or Vince Young would get the start. VY is getting over a hamstring injury, but no matter which of the two is starting, you're not going to have them in your lineup. While there is some upside to both Eagles QBs given the weapons at their disposal, you hopefully have a decent backup option. If not, Kafka or Young could provide some upside potential if you want to roll the dice.
The bigger fantasy impact is on guys like DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, Brent Celek. QB issues have not stopped Andy Reid from flinging the ball around like crazy in the past, so I wouldn't imagine much change now. DeSean Jackson dealt with his own forearm injury throughout the game but otherwise is a must-start every week. Jeremy Maclin followed up a quiet opener with a monster 13-catch effort against the Falcons. It's possible there will be struggles with a different QB, but I'd say Eagles skill position players remain safe starts.
