Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick made his return to the field a week after suffering a concussion and saw his luck go from bad to worse. After struggling through 16 of 23 for 176 yards and an interception, Vick took a hard hit that led to a break in his right (non-throwing) hand.
After the game, Vick stated that he wasn't sure if he'd be able to play next week and now it sounds like he'll be visiting a hand specialist on Monday for a CT scan. We should get an update from the Eagles coaching staff later in the day, but even then I would suspect they won't give away too much information for the 49ers game-planning. I suspect we'll hear that he's day-to-day and maybe if he has a brace or some kind of soft cast on his hand.
What does this mean for fantasy football owners? Much like last week you are stuck waiting through the week. Although the break is on his non-throwing hand, that still leaves question marks about taking the snap from center if he has any sort of brace on that hand.
If you don't have a backup quarterback I'd recommend grabbing one. And not the Eagles backup(s). The Eagles could go with either Vince Young or Mike Kafka, and neither is worth stashing on your roster. Even if Vick goes, it might be worth sitting him if you are concerned about any sort of brace or cast. Quarterbacks have played through broken bones in non-throwing hands, but it creates some issues. We'll have much more throughout the week on this injury.
