Nate Kaeding's groin injury boosts Nick Novak's fantasy value

Kelley L Cox-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Nate Kaeding could be out for a while with a groin injury. We break down the fantasy implications.

San Diego Chargers K Nate Kaeding (groin) could be "out a while", according to Michael Gehlken. Kaeding was inactive for Week 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs with a lingering groin issue, as the team signed Nick Novak to replace him for the time being. Kaeding is a perfect 7-for-7 on field goal attempts this season.

Fantasy Impact: Kaeding is still 30 years old, and while kickers generally have a much longer shelf life than most NFL players, he's now missed 19 games in the past three seasons and can't be counted on to stay healthy anymore. You shouldn't be overthinking your K position in fantasy, so for now just drop Kaeding and pick up Novak off the wire. He was 27-of-34 in FGs last season.
