Green Bay Packers running back Cedric Benson has been placed on injured reserve but can return this season. We break down the fantasy implications.

Green Bay Packers running back Cedric Benson has been placed on injured reserve but can return this season under a new league rule. Benson has a foot injury and is expected to miss at least eight weeks. Benson was carted off the field during last weekend's loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Benson is expected to be replaced by Alex Green and James Starks at running back on Sunday against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Impact: This move gives the Packers some flexibility but fantasy owners will have to consider if they need to target Green or Starks for essentially the rest of the fantasy regular season. Green seems like the better player to go after but the more likely scenario involves an even heavier shift toward passing from Aaron Rodgers the rest of the way. Green and Starks are flex plays this week.
