Check out my top 30 Tight End rankings for week 6. As Bye weeks hit, fantasy managers have tough weekly decisions to make. Just follow these rankings to victory!

Week 6 of the NFL season means we are closing in on the halfway point of the 2012 fantasy football regular season. Barring a zero or one-loss team, you are likely still strongly in the mix for a playoff berth. As owners get ready for Week 6, there is one big name on bye. The New Orleans Saints are on bye, which means Jimmy Graham will be out. If you have Graham, you only need a replacement this weekend, before returning to Graham the rest of the way.

Two other tight ends on bye are Greg Olsen (Panthers) and Marcedes Lewis (Jaguars). Olsen has quietly turned into a very solid start option, so do not release him at this point if he has been your primary starter. Here is a rundown of some valuable tight end options, followed by a ranking of all pertinent tight ends.

  • I have been very impressed with Tony Gonzalez this year. He has been nothing short of spectacular, and has cemented himself as a no-brainer top 5 Tight End. With that being said, I am not quite ready to take the crown away from Rob Gronkowski. Despite being banged up, and putting up inconsistent numbers, Gronk is still top dog. He remains the clear #1 option (especially in the red zone) for one of the best offenses in the NFL. I also think that the presence of Aaron Hernandez will only help create more space for Gronk to operate. If you have Gonzalez, I wouldnt even think twice about trading him for Gronkowski.
  • Kyle Rudolph has another juicy matchup this week against a porous Redskins defense. While he disappointed in the yardage department last week, he did get into the end zone to salvage his fantasy day. I fully expect Rudolph to put up high end TE1 numbers this week.
  • I am interested in watching some of the old guys. Antonio Gates is just proving himself to be unreliable at this point. I was super high on him pre-season but he is just not putting up the expected elite fantasy numbers. He is still a starter in 10-12 team leagues, but you cant feel great about starting him at this point. I will also be watching carefully to see which Jason Witten we get this week: the reliable, tough minded, PPR monster, or the banged up, old, unstartable guy. So much risk/reward with this guy.
  • I cant believe how many people are jumping off the Martellus Bennett bandwagon because of a slight injury. What isnt there to understand? With the exception of last week, the running game has been totally nonexistent for the Giants. Eli is going to air the ball out, and Martellus will continue to put up TE1 numbers as soon as he gets back to 100 percent. If anybody foolishly dropped him this week (as people did in 2 of my leagues), then pick him up immediately.
  • I cant believe I am saying this, but Dustin Keller is actually on my fantasy radar as a bye week filler. The fact is, that the Jets have very little firepower on the offensive side of the ball. A struggling Mark Sanchez is praying for any help that he can get to save his job from "he who must not be named." While Keller is far from a star, he has a connection with Sanchez and has the ability to get himself open on short-moderate routes. As long as he is healthy and playing, I could see Keller making a comeback as a TE 2.
  • Joel Dreessen has been a sneaky play this year. Obviously his value in PPR leagues is way lower then standard leagues, but he just finds a way to get into the end zone. It probably helps that he has Eli's brother slinging the ball to him. If you have bye week problems, you could do a lot worse.
