Howard Smith-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire
Ray Lewis and Lardarius Webb both have season-ending injuries, a huge loss for Baltimore's defense. We break down the fantasy implications.
The Baltimore Ravens got the worst possible news on Monday. Coach John Harbaugh confirmed, via Jeff Zrebiec, that LB Ray Lewis and CB Lardarius Webb are both done for the season after leaving Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys. Webb has a torn ACL, the second of his career. He is Baltimore's top pass defender and one of the better CBs in the league.
Lewis is also out with a fully torn triceps suffered in the 4th quarter. Lewis needs no introduction - despite losing a step or two, the future Hall of Famer was still the heart of the defense, and still productive in his own right.
Fantasy Impact: This is a massive blow to Baltimore D/ST owners, who were already dealing with a shaky unit. Losing its two top playmakers suddenly makes the D a possible liability in fantasy.
The D/ST position isn't terribly important in the grand scheme of things, but fantasy owners may want to start thinking of alternatives before the Ravens face Houston's bruising ground attack in Week 7.
