Michael Vick will remain the starting quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles for the time being, head coach Andy Reid told reporters Tuesday. Reid used the phrase "as I sit here today", suggesting that Vick is indeed on a tight leash with the coaching staff.
Vick had 311 yards passing with two touchdowns and 59 yards rushing against the Detroit Lions last week. He accounted for three turnovers in a yet another close loss, however, prompting calls for rookie Nick Foles to take over under center.
Fantasy Impact: The Eagles are in scorched-earth mode. See: Juan Castillo getting axed as the defensive coordinator Tuesday. Thankfully, the team has a bye this week to cool its jets. Vick owners would be wise to do the same. The beleaguered quarterback still had a solid fantasy day, depending on how heavily your league penalizes turnovers.
Vick hadn't thrown an interception since Week 2 before throwing two last week. He may not be a reliable weekly fantasy starter anymore, but with the right matchup he can still produce like one of the league's elite quarterbacks.
