Matt Cassel, Brady Quinn split equal reps in practice: Fantasy implications

John Rieger-US PRESSWIRE

Matt Cassel and Brady Quinn took equal snaps under center with the Chiefs' first-team offense in practice Wednesday. We break down the fantasy implications.

Matt Cassel and Brady Quinn took an equal number of reps with the Kansas City Chiefs offense during practice Wednesday, head coach Romeo Crennel told reporters. When prodded, Crennel refused to name a starter against the Oakland Raiders after the team's Week 7 bye.

Crennel had previously said that Cassel would regain the job as soon as he was cleared for contact after suffering a concussion in Week 5. Cassel isn't quite all the way back from injury yet, according to the coach.

Fantasy Impact: Quinn didn't exactly set the world on fire with his Week 6 performance, throwing for 180 yards and two interceptions with zero touchdowns against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Ultimately, it would be surprising if Cassel didn't regain his starting role, but the situation is worth keeping an eye on.

Regardless, neither quarterback can be considered a starting fantasy option at the moment, even in two-quarterback leagues. Unless you're in an especially deep league, look elsewhere for production.
