Michael Gehlken of the U-T San Diego reports that the San Diego Chargers have signed WR Danario Alexander. An imposing frame at 6'5", 217 pounds, Alexander has struggled with leg injuries his whole NFL career. He went undrafted in 2010 due to major injury concerns, and was released by the St. Louis Rams in training camp after a hamstring ailment.
On the few occasions where he stayed healthy, Alexander has been fairly productive. In 18 career games, he has 46 catches for 737 yards and three TDs.
Fantasy Impact: The Chargers have pretty uninspiring depth at WR behind Malcom Floyd and Robert Meachem, so nothing wrong with kicking the tires on a guy like Alexander. If healthy, he's talented enough to be useful in deep fantasy leagues.
That's a huge "if", though, and he just can't stay on the field long enough to contribute. The Chargers are making a nice low-risk, high-reward move here, but fantasy owners should keep him on the wire for now.
