Alex Smith only completed 14 of 23 passes for 140 yards, one touchdown and one interception against the Seahawks in Week 7. The 49ers heavily relied on the ground game on Thursday night, so Smith wasn't constantly putting the ball in the air.
With his receivers struggling to create separation, Smith dumped the ball off to his running backs on half of his completions.
Fantasy Impact: Smith's fantasy value is basically a roller coaster of mystery. Some weeks he'll put up big numbers and appear to be a viable fantasy starter. Some weeks he'll completely let his owners down.
The 49ers offense simply expects Smith to manage the game well with limited turnovers, and for that reason he is tough to justify as a starter in your lineup. He will face another relatively tough secondary next week against Arizona.
