Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list on Saturday and is expected to play against the Texans on Sunday. Though it may only be a few plays, Ian Rapaport of the NFL Network says that a Raven source called Suggs "crazy" for doing it. With bad news coming down this week for Baltimore that included the losses of Ray Lewis and Lardarius Webb for the year, and that Ed Reed might have a torn labrum (not expected to keep him out), Suggs appears to have his mind set on returning.
Not that Baltimore couldn't desperately use him. The Ravens defense has struggled overall and they'll be facing the only other team in the AFC with a winning record today, taking on the Texans in Houston. There is no guarantee yet that Suggs will play, or how much he even would, but it's certainly surprising to hear that he even might with only three days of practice.
Fantasy Take: Suggs is one of the best Individual defensive players in fantasy, totaling 14 sacks and seven forced fumbles on his way to Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2011. However, he's a terrible play for today and could be iffy for a few games until he shakes the rust off and proves that his Achilles is fine.
The loss of Webb is probably worse news from a playing standpoint than the loss of Lewis, but it can't be underestimated the kind of a leader that Lewis is in the locker room and on the field. Getting Suggs back helps, but overall the team defense could be even worse than their 26th overall ranking after six weeks.
