Redskins TE Fred Davis ruptured his left Achilles tendon in the first quarter against the Giants on Sunday. Davis couldn't put any weight on his left foot and he hobbled right to the trainer's table. He will be out for the year and the beginning of his 2013 season could be in jeopardy as well.
Fred Davis will finish his 2012 campaign with 24 catches for 325 yards and no TDs.
Fantasy Impact: This is a brutal blow for Davis and the Redskins. They basically allowed Chris Cooley to walk and handed Davis the job to be the exclusive option as the pass-catching tight end for Robert Griffin III. Davis has battled some injuries in his career and also has seen a suspension during his NFL career.
The Skins have nobody really behind Davis with Niles Paul on the depth chart. Paul has been in the talks of being a fullback and fantasy owners shouldn't consider picking up him. In fact, Logan Paulsen is likely going to be the biggest fantasy winner at tight end. Don't forget, Cooley is still a free agent. Santana Moss will likely get more looks in the slot and has been on the upswing with Pierre Garcon struggling to stay healthy.
