Nate Kaeding is done for the year. We break down the fantasy implications.

The Chargers placed Nate Kaeding on injured reserve Monday, ending his season in 2012. San Diego will release Kaeding once he is healthy again, giving Nick Novak the permanent kicking duties going forward.

Kaeding was once one of the best kickers in the league, but injuries have marred his past two seasons and kept him off the field for the majority of that time frame. He was 7-for-7 on field goals this season.

Fantasy Impact: A third-round draft pick in 2004, Kaeding made built himself into a top fantasy performer each season. If he can stay healthy in the future, he will surely sign on with another franchise.

Nick Novak finished with 122 total points in 2011. He is 5-for-6 on field goal tries this year, but with the Chargers offense struggling, you can probably find a better kicker for your lineup.
